The success of Sea shepherd conservation society in France can be assessed in a way that company was awarded by the court of France in 2013 by € 20000. Even court ordered the four sea poachers to pay € 5000 to Sea shepherd conservation society when found guilty. The other case that is pending in court is against the smugglers of “Gooseneck barbacle” (Sea Shepherd, 2013).
Political environment has also an important impact over the businesses because policies that are designed plays immense role in restricting or supporting the certain actions of organization. Poor or lack of collaboration between nurses and other healthcare professionals is identified as a main contributor of medical errors (O’Daniel & Rosenstein, 2008). Despite teamwork and collaboration being highlighted as being extremely crucial in healthcare delivery, it is hardly not the case due to a plethora of factors (barriers) affecting teamwork and collaboration. These barriers can be classified as personal, organizational, work-related and cultural barriers (O’Daniel & Rosenstein, 2008). Personal barriers include, for example, personal differences between team members as well as differences in personal values. Organizational barriers include emphasis on rapid decision-making, bureaucratic processes in decision-making and the organizational culture. Hierarchical differences have been highlighted as leading barriers that result to withholding of information that is vital for patient safety. Work-related barriers could include, for example, disruption and scheduling differences. Cultural barriers could include cultural differences between team members (O’Daniel & Rosenstein, 2008).
Poor or lack of collaboration between healthcare professionals results to communication breakdown, which in turn leads to medical errors (O’Daniel & Rosenstein, 2008). For example, if a nurse withholds some vital information, such as symptoms she has just observed on a patient, this prevents the physician to correctly diagnose the disease or administer appropriate drugs. If such symptoms could be as a result of negative reaction with prescribed drugs, this may lead to the deterioration of the patient’s condition and eventually death. Delayed communication is another effect of poor or lack of collaboration between healthcare providers, which results from highly bureaucratized structure (Flicek, 2012). Delayed information can be as serious as withholding of information especially if delayed information is critical to patient health and safety. For example, the physician may change administered drugs due to negative reaction. However, if this information is not passed on to the nurse immediately, the nurse will continue administering drugs that were earlier administered, which will continue to deteriorate the condition of the patient.
