Critically evaluate cross-border offshoring management, cultural dimensions and gamification challenges by analysing and discussing the various approaches between the company’s EU operations and its international activities.

Effectively managing across globally dispersed multidisciplinary teams is an increasing challenge facing international organisations. The rapid emergence of a digital culture requires these companies to develop new and engaging business models in ensuring a competitive advantage. For example according to a recent Gallup Employee Engagement Index (Q4 2010), 72% of employees have been found to be either actively disengaged or not engaged at work. This has an impact on the management of globally dispersed teams in an international setting. For your report you are required to select an EU organisation engaged in one of the following key industries:
• Call Centre Offshoring
• Software Development Offshoring
Based on your chosen organisation you are required to complete an analytical report supported by academic research focusing on the following three points:
1. Cross-Border Offshoring Management.
2. Cultural Dimensions.
3. Gamification.
In completing your report you should draw on existing international management literature, academic research and theory to critically evaluate cross-border offshoring management, cultural dimensions and gamification challenges by analysing and discussing the various approaches between the company’s EU operations and its international activities.

Your report should be guided by relevant theories and concepts and it is important to include academic research to underpin your analysis and critical findings where applicable. Initially refer to appropriate books/journals from the module guide recommended reading list.

“Beneficence and the closely allied principle of nonmaleficence are among the primary justification supporting public policies that interfere with the autonomy of individuals.”Discuss.

Scenario

Two principles are often at odds when healthcare practitioners must deal with health issues: The autonomy of each patient and beneficence. Autonomy refers to the individual’s right to make his or her own decisions. Beneficence refers to the moral obligating to act in ways that promote the health and welfare of others. As stated in Merman’s Ethical Challenges in the Management of Health Information, “Beneficence and the closely allied principle of nonmaleficence (first do no harm) are among the primary justification supporting public policies that interfere with the autonomy of individuals.”
Ethics Issue:

Speaker was thought to have an extremely contagious and untreatable form of multidrug resistant tuberculosis. Upon Speaker’s return to the Universe State, the Centers for Disease Control used provision of the Public Health Service Act to involuntarily hospitalize and desolate him. Speaker’s diagnosis was later corrected. He had a treatable form of tuberculosis. At least nine individual who were passengers on the flights Speaker took later filed civil suits against him for knowingly exposing them to the disease.

1. Thinking as health care practitioners, n your opinion should Mr. Speaker’s autonomy as a person have taken precedence over the CDC’s desire to enforce public health law? Explain you answer.

2. In your opinion, did the CDC act ethically in involuntarily quarantine Mr. Speaker? Explain you answer.

3. Support your answers with facts/sources of reference.
