Paper on the following topic: Where do references to the Bible show up in Boxing the Compass by Sandy Florian, and how do these references relate and contribute to the argument of the novel?
Overview: The “Final” project is a term paper focusing on one of the substantive topics introduced during the lectures and/or readings (some potential topics are listed at the bottom of this page). I will discuss potential themes and the format of this assignment almost every week in class. The substantive focus can be on any medical sociology/health research question, for anywhere in the world, and at any spatial scale (i.e., from a study of a single village all the way up to an investigation of global patterns and trends). I will be there to help if you have no ideas.
Task: To complete a coherent study or review of a medical/health topic, emphasizing the social causes of health and disease.
Things to bear in mind: It is never too early to think about the substantive focus of your final project. You are likely to work in earnest on this project in bits and pieces throughout the semester, with greater emphasis in the second half of the course. The reading load for the course is reduced substantially after week 10 with the intent that your reading load focuses on material for the final assignment.
What do you submit? The term paper should have an approximate word length of 2,000 words – excluding tables, figures and any references). The text should be double-spaced, font-size 12, Times Roman font, with all margins set at 1 inch). Minimum acceptable word length is 1,500 words (excluding tables, references, figures). It is expected that a written term paper would draw on many sources of material. It is expected that all sources are cited appropriately.

Over the course of the semester in PHIL 201, we have discussed a number of philosophical topics that could be formulated as ‘disputed questions,’ which was a common way of doing philosophy in the Middle Ages. As we will see in the writings of Thomas Aquinas, a medieval disputation consisted of: 1) a disputed question, and 2) a careful consideration of arguments on both sides of the question, in order to arrive at a rational resolution to the question.
In imitation of the style of writing described above, your assignment is to do the following:
1. the disputed question of my paper is (Whether every human action is ordered to happiness by Aristotle) in philosophical thinking.
2. Decide which position you will take on the disputed question in your paper, and
choose one philosopher that we have read this semester either to help support your
position or to formulate objections against your position. Your paper must include at
least two properly-cited quotations from this philosopher.
3. At the beginning of your paper, defend your position, clearly stating your
arguments.
4. Next, pose two objections to your position. These should be the best objections that
you can think of, not ‘straw men.’
5. Finally, provide a response to the objections raised, explaining how these
objections fail to refute your position.
Art, Risk, and Resilience
Researchers have begun to understand that the arts, broadly defined, can serve as a protective factor against a wide range of risks. In fact, the arts are commonly used in treatment settings for at-risk youth (e.g., Rapp-Paglicci, Stewart, & Rowe, 2011). In the public realm, JK Rowling, recently used her Harry Potter characters and wizarding world to help comfort a grieving adolescent (see: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/harry-potter/11015674/J-K-Rowling-sends-Dumbledore-letter-to-Texas-shooting-survivor-Cassidy-Stay.html).
Specifically for Area C2: Recognize how significant works illuminate enduring human concerns and how these works may influence risk and resilience processes.
Specifically for Area V: Describe how ideas, values, images, cultural artifacts, economic structures, technological developments, and/or attitudes of people from more than one culture may influence risk and resilience processes.
Thus, in this approximately one page (about 250 to 300 words) essay, you will reflect on the ways that different aspects of the arts can potentially decrease risk, promote protective factors, and facilitate resilience. You may choose to discuss your own experience with the arts in this context, the experience with the arts in this context of someone you know (use a fake name), make up profiles, or discuss these ideas in the abstract. However you choose to approach the assignment, the goal is to explore the possible ways and reason why the arts have the potential to decrease risk, increase protective factors, and promote/facilitate resilience at the individual and community levels.

You should then produce a Report for a business audience. The Report should contain a brief account of the market entry strategy that has been implemented by the firm in question. The focus of your report isof entry mode(s) within the context of their overall entry mode strategy. Academic literature should form the core of your analysis and discussion, with newspaper articles, etc. being used only for factual support or to update the literature.
An essay is inappropriate for this task and a report format must be adopted. It is also essential that critical assertions, facts and key comments are referenced (see instructions below).
