Appendix 18-B: Instructors’ Guide for Eliciting Students’ Identification of Exam Performance Reflection Questions
****The following questions are examples of what students should identify to help them dig deeper into why they earned full credit or lost points on exam questions. These questions are provided to help you prepare for eliciting this thinking from your students during Activity 1.***

Make sure to choose a topic you�re interested in. Do you want to be a doctor? Look at the economics of medical school, or policies that have been put into place that regulate medicine. What about health insurance � how does it impact medicine, and how does that impact change now that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been put in place? What about the trend of doctors� salaries over the past 50 years? Are they trending up or down, do they grow/shrink with the economy or with population? There are many ways economics can tie into your topic � you just have to pick ONE, and only one, to talk about.
So you�ve found an economic idea that ties to your topic � so what? What are the implications of this economic idea? What does it help explain about the real-life situation of your topic? Does it �help� or �hinder� your topic?
The writing style for this assignment is casual. But beware� this is a very short assignment, so it�s important to be clear and concise in your writing, and to ground your argument well. Be clear about your topic of interest, your economic idea, and how the two impact each other. With little room to wander off topic, it�s going to be very important to be direct and brief.

Michelle has asked you to send her a memo that explains the target market for MM’s new product. Because a global market is under consideration, she wants you and Elena to meet for an in-depth discussion of the different characteristics of your target market before sending her the information.
Elena meets you for coffee the next morning to explain her reasons for advocating the global market. As you finish your discussion, Elena stops and says,
“We’ve discussed a lot of different market segments to target with the new product, but the choice comes back to you,” says Elena. “What’s your final decision on the target market that we should focus on? Are you going to propose that we try to market this product globally?

topic: according to solnit, in what ways do people today think and behave differently than people did in “the golden age of walking”? what do you think of her views?
My opinion:
I agree with Solnit’s idea that people are unwilling to walk as well as ancient people because walking is inefficient, is outdated, and is not safe.
My idea: walking is inefficient because it wastes a lot of times when people need to reach a long distance and vehicles are not expensive now. People can save many times to do their favorites instead of walking. Second, walking is free, but slow. Car was fast but expensive in twenty century, but now it is relatively cheaper.
Walking is outdated because it is not the only entertainment anymore. Read the essay, people love to walk, but now people have many choice such as movie, video games. Walking was a nice method to talk to people and enjoy. Modern people tend to used their phone and app such as facebook, twitter to talk. We use different way to spend our time now. I am not sure about this body paragraph, you can make some change but not too much.
Third, walking is not safe. Example, my friend lives in Memphis, top three crime city in USA. He drives to every position he goes. People do not trust their neighbood and fear to walk alone at night. Too many criime happen.

THE TASK

Write a report describing and analysing the HR practices and issues within a company of your choice (subject to approval by the seminar tutor).

You must identify two different HR topics within that company. The HR topics are to be chosen from the weekly session titles on this module, for example Performance Management, Culture, Equality and Diversity etc.

The company and topics must be approved by the seminar tutor, who has the final say over which companies to use. It may be possible to combine different aspects but check with your tutor. Tesco and John Lewis are barred as companies that you can choose.

For each topic you are expected to incorporate at least one appropriate theory/model or recognised practice. For example with Reward you could incorporate Total Reward; Culture you could include Schein or Deal and Kennedy; Performance Management you could include 360 degree feedback.
