I need enough references to support the topic regarding the differences between ELLs from Mainland China and Taiwan learning English abroad. The focus should be on their learning styles, attitudes and the classroom settings or situations as well as what should teachers be aware of. Many English teachers categorize them as one cultural group, but actually there are many discrepancies between them. Background
Your assignment for this term paper is as follows:
1. Provide a historical context for the 17th amendment. Discuss the events leading up to its
adoption. Since this era is discussed in materials covered in Unit Three, you may need to
review chapters in Foner that are relevant to this period before they are discussed in
lecture. This section should not be more than a couple of paragraphs and should
ultimately show that you are familiar with the events leading up to the ratification of the
17th amendment.
2. Review discussion on creating the Senate from Madison’s notes on the Constitutional
Convention (I have provided a date above on when some of the issues were discussed but
don’t limit your research to that day only). Use what you have learned from Madison to
form an opinion on why the Founding Fathers designated that the state legislatures were
to send representation to the Senate. What conclusions can you make on the connections
between the culture of the time period, the discussion of the Founding Fathers regarding
the makeup of the Senate, and their final decision as seen in the Constitution?
3. In your opinion, what were the consequences (both positive and negative) to adding the
17th amendment to the Constitution? Argue whether or not the changes presented by this
amendment were consistent with the intent of the Founding Fathers when they wrote the
Constitution. Explore through writing how the culture of the United States had changed
between the writing of the Constitution and the addition this amendment.

Now that you’ve read Berger and George, explore a topic related to their essays. You must reference both Berger and George ‘s articles as you argue your opinion about your chosen topic. Make sure to back up your claims with sufficient evidence (you need at least one additional source for this essay!).
Use the rhetorical strategies (ie: specific language, counterargument, transitions, quotes, concrete examples, as well as ethos, pathos, and logos) we’ve discussed throughout the semester–including those employed by both Berger and George–to persuade your reader that your thesis is valid.
