The outcomes for this Session Long Project include introducing some information about how the social, political, or religious history influenced the art or artist you have chosen to reflect on. You must chose a different artist or artwork from those presented in the Case Assignment. Your reflection should identify some of the typical values and characteristics of Renaissance art. This information should, ultimately, serve to inform your own personal reaction to the artwork and/or the artist. You have the opportunity to make connections between your own personal interests and the concepts you are learning. You have more freedom to engage with particular issues are of interest to you. However, your engagement must reflect the research and background information you have read for the course module. Make sure to include the image itself or a link to it in your text.

Innovation is described as the process through which new and problem solving ideas are brought into good use. The ideas are dynamic as they touch on various aspects such as cost cutting, reorganizing and establishment of new budgetary systems (Hjalager, 2010; Pikkemaat, 2009). It also caters for the enhancement of communication as well as assembling staff members who will make the team that leads the innovation. Innovation is not only a driver of the economy but it also associated to newness.
The study of innovation in the hotel industry is an emerging field as there is no enough literature on this area. There is a significant difference between a standard hotel that retain the old customer service models as compared to the innovative type that responds to new dynamics in the hotel industry to meet customer needs. Hjalager (2010), shows that it is important to note that even traditional hotels introduce new things in their operations, but this does not qualify them to be innovative hotels. For any venture in a hotel to be said to be innovative it must meet certain criteria (Chesbrough, 2011).
For a long time, most authors have limited themselves to the description of innovation that only focuses on the new good introduced. The literature also focused on the introduction of new production methods or even the opening of a new market. Traditional innovation also focused on the repositioning of a specific hotel in the market industry (Tajeddini, 2009). However, current literature has defined four areas that are now the focus of innovation. These include change in processes, the product/service, marketing, and organizational innovation (Tidd & Bessant, 2009).
The area of innovations in hotels is still emerging and is note as extensively researched as it should be. In order to shed more light on this area, it is necessary to conduct an empirical research. Bearing in mind that innovations drive competition in the hotel business, it is important that more studies are carried out in this area so as to help the hotels to grow. (Verma & Smith 2010), assert that the outcomes will also benefit the hotel regulatory bodies so as to develop policies that stimulate innovations among the hotels.

Comparing and contrasting the different methods of performance management systems we cover in class. You are to assess which approaches you feel would be most effective and why.

1. Topic: EEOC Sues Clinic for Sex Discrimination
Composition: Failure to effectively manage diversity in an organization can lead to some unfavorable outcomes for the organization. Effectively managing diversity can improve organizational effectiveness. When managers effectively manage diversity, they not only encourage other managers to treat diverse members of an organization fairly and justly but also realize that diversity is an important organizational resource that can help an organization gain a competitive advantage.
Lakeland Eye Clinic located in Lakeland, Florida demonstrated their failure to effectively manage diversity when they violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits sex discrimination, including that based on gender stereotyping by firing an employee because she is transgender, because she was transitioning from male to female, and/or because she did not conform to their gender-based expectations, preferences, or stereotype regardless of the fact that the employee had performed her duties satisfactorily throughout her employment. After the employee began to present as a woman and informed the clinic that she was transgender that is when Lakeland fired her. As a result of this violation, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit suing Lakeland Eye Clinic for sex discrimination against the transgender employee. The lawsuit filed on September 25, 2014 was identified as being the first suit in its history challenging transgender discrimination under the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Robert E. Weisberg, regional attorney for the Miami District Office, pointed out that in 2011, the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force completed a study that found in Florida, 81 percent of transgender individuals responding to the survey experienced harassment or mistreatment on the job and 56 percent experienced an adverse job action. (District Court-US, 2014)

Gang Development

• Gang members are violent and rarely show remorse or feelings regarding their violent and criminal actions. Members may join a gang because it provides them a release for their personal problems, which may include drug abuse, low self-esteem, and family problems.
• Gang members typically come from low income areas and may even be considered to have been “forced” into gang life in order to survive. The gang provides a sense of belonging in a world where members may lack positive role models and the ability to attain status in a way considered acceptable by society.
• Joining a gang is a way to obtain money and protection. It is often seen as a personal decision to gain success. Members who join for this reason feel pride when they get away with a crime and were most likely committing illegal acts long before joining a gang.
• Members join a gang to have a safe social circle and to learn techniques to communicate through graffiti. Gang members use those techniques to display their gang’s strength and power in their neighborhood. Members who join a gang for this reason are typically involved in drug use and truancy but rarely violent acts of delinquency.
• Individuals who join gangs for this reason may have an older family member who is a gang member. They may go through distinct hazing rituals before they can join. The hazing rituals offer assurance that the individual is capable and ready to start his or her new life as a gang member.

1. Quality of the introduction chapter in presenting the scope of the research and the rationale underpinning the value of pursuing it: Through critical evaluation of the research scope, the chapter presents the research aim, which is analysed to identify the research question. The objectives are drawn from the research question to clearly frame the structure of the research. Through further critical reflection, the choices are justified shaping the research motivation and purpose, as well as locating it in a broader pathway discipline.
2. Quality of the literature review chapter in describing and defining the context of the research: The chapter offers a critical review of the gathered literature, which is grounded in the pathway discipline as well as successfully used to define the research context. The coverage of the literature offers depth and breadth, being effectively used to define the meaning captured by the research question.

Quality of the research process chapter in arguing the undertaken research process and ensured academic rigour: The research process is defined and critically evaluated against the research question and academic methodological literature. The methods and data set choices are critically argued and compared to the pathway discipline research practice. There is also a clear presentation of how the academic rigour, validity of findings, and ethical requirements have been met and assured.
