Each company has defined set of goals and objectives. They all aim at satisfying the needs of their esteemed customers while at the same time making enough profits. Daimler uses a combination of both the differentiation strategy and cost leadership. Advertising and a long reliable history of durability and quality are its value chain for competitors and has given it the ability to grow in a market that is highly competitive. This has also improved their competition in the market narrowing down the big list of competitors that have recently flocked into the industry to three main competitors Volkswagen AG, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, and AB Volvo (Buckley and Ghauri 2015). However, their differentiation and cost leadership strategies are narrow as opposed to broad.
In the quest to reach new markets, Daimler has expanded and acquired techniques that will help in its permeation. From the list of directors who have headed it, they have made significant efforts in enabling that the company reaches greater heights. Their scope has gone further in implementing programs that support their growth strategy as well as further efficiency improvements. This has enhanced their presence in the world market where they have been able to cooperate with other partners. Even with the constant increase in population, Daimler has shown continued efforts to satisfy its customers (Martelin, 2009).
