For your poetry analysis paper, you will be comparing two poems that both respond to the same painting. The texts, On the Road by Jack Kerouac, and White Noise by Dan Delillo, have in one way or another addressed the matter of how to live an ‘authentic’ life. We see character change how they appear, live life at the margins of society, and even commit attempted murder in attempts to really ‘live’. Are they successful? Is authenticity even possible for the characters in these texts?
Critical Analysis Guidelines The purpose for writing a critical analysis is to evaluate someone’s work (book, essay, movie, paining, play, etc…) in order to increase the reader’s understanding of it. A critical analysis is subjective writing because it expresses the writer’s opinion and evaluation of the work. Analysis means to break down and study the parts. Writing a critical paper requires two steps: critical reading and critical writing.
