Nursing Education

Reflection: Professional Development

Throughout your career so far you have gained expertise in certain areas of nursing practice. In transitioning to the role of nurse educator, you may find it challenging to be in the position of a novice again. To help you transition most effectively, you are asked to reflect on the main insights you have gained throughout this course and prepare a plan for your future professional development. The focus of this Reflection is to synthesize what you have learned in this course and program so that you can identify clear goals towards which to strive and plan how to achieve those goals.

Begin by reviewing the PDP document you completed in NURS 6000, in which you identified your goals for participating in this academic program. To what extent have you achieved, exceeded, or changed these? Then consider specific learning activities throughout this course, such as your Learning Experience, Role Socialization paper, and Discussion forums. Based on your experiences, what possible challenges and goals have you identified in your transition to the nurse educator role?

With these thoughts in mind, write a 2- to 3-page paper in which you reflect on the course and on your plans for your professional development.

I. Course Reflection

In 2–3 paragraphs, summarize how this course has prepared you to engage successfully in the roles, responsibilities, and relationships of the nurse educator and to transition to this career.

II. Professional Goals

Identify the kind of position you are seeking. Describe the specific steps you plan to take in the next 1–2 years to attain this position and thrive in your career. The following are some of the activities that should help you develop professionally before or after you attain a nurse educator position:

•Pursuing a PhD or other doctoral degree
•Taking the CHES, ANCC, NLN, or other certification exam for educators
•Pursing continuing education activities
•Finding a mentor
•Gaining a greater comfort level and confidence in your classroom and clinical teaching
•Arranging for and making use of peer evaluation
•Developing plans for self-evaluation of teaching
•Participating in scholarship activities
•Participating in service activities
•Managing stresses/strains of role
•Working with administration to establish goals, especially involving teaching, service, and scholarship
For each of the goals you identify, explain how these would help further your professional development and include a projected timeline for attaining each of the goals.

Summarize these thoughts in a 2- to 3-page paper and submit by the end of this week.

Your written assignments must follow APA guidelines. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and any additional sources. Refer to the Pocket Guide to APA Style to ensure your citations in the text and reference list are correct.

Asian empires

Instruction:
we have covered sections on Asian empires, the spread of colonialism and imperialism from the 17th century on, and the formation of new states in the post-colonial era. In addition, we had discussions about social science perspectives and the development of social science narratives. The answers you give, therefore, represent succinct summaries of your findings. For each answer, you should restate, and usually narrow the focus of, the research question that you will be answering. You should also cite the sources you use to develop your answer. These sources should appear as endnotes at the end of the worksheet, and you should provide a bibliography that lists all your sources in alphabetical order.

HERE’s THE QUESTION for the research paper:

In the matter of a relatively short period in the 13th century, the Mongols, under the leadership of Genghis Khan and Kublai Khan, conquered much of what is now known as Asia. In class I discussed some concepts relating to patrimonialism. Using some of these concepts as your perspective and based on your research, develop a narrative how a relatively small group of invaders was able to govern, for a short time at least, a vast empire.

Product Development

Product Development

Health services continue to affect the gross domestic product, and this dramatic transformation has great demands on each dollar spent to deliver patient-centered products. Health care marketing must be repeatedly applied and practiced strategically to include environmental dimensions, such as technology, socioeconomics, competition, and regulatory.

That being said, in today’s global economy, investors and potential entrepreneurs must tap into the so-called “unexplored” market. In this aspect, health care establishments must utilize marketing, advertising, as well as sales strategies when pursuing new customers (e.g., suppose a health care investor wanted to build a small hospital in a rural community); this would entail exploration and logistical experimentation to determine who will patronize the facility. In an impoverished neighborhood, the feasibility of having lucrative profits may see diminishing returns, and so the venture may be not worth the effort. Also, suppose that the potential investor wants to sell mosquito deterrents (e.g., bedside netting in malaria-infested regions of Asia or Africa); then it would be wise to investigate the number of beds that are actually in the village, and who would be willing to purchase them. These activities take into account the investor portfolio, as well as the feasibility of marketing and selling the product. Such exploration also examines competitors, cultural differences, and—most important—identification of the customer.

Identify a local health care establishment (e.g., hospital, rehabilitation center, emergency medical center) and determine its product development practices. Utilize concepts from previous weeks to substantiate information, as needed. You may develop the discussion based on the ideas presented here, but feel free to inject any salient marketing strategy that you believe might support your presentation.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Justify the purpose of the selected health care establishments’ product(s) / service (s) and their associated life cycle(s).
  2. Suggest one (1) strategy to improve the marketing mix of the selected health care establishment. Support your strategy by highlighting one (1) benefit of (1) portfolio analysis and providing two (2) examples that display differential advantages.
  3. Assess the importance of technology in providing patients with clear and accessible information about health care organizations and the product(s) / service(s) that they provide.
  4. Outline a survey to capture patients’ expectations regarding the delivery and / or accessibility of product(s) / service(s) identified.
  5. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.
