1. Pick a topic in criminal justice that interests you. Maybe you are interested in sex offenders or serial killers. I am in interested in female inmates and HIV infection, hence, I am going to be looking for books and articles that deal specifically with this topic.
2. Narrow your topic down. A broad topic can be confusing and overwhelming. You may be interested in serial killers, but what about serial killers interest you specifically? Maybe you are interested in explaining the differences between the organized and disorganized killer, or the differences between male and female serial killers. In regards to my topic, female inmates and HIV is too broad of a topic. I will narrow my topic down to female inmates and HIV that have participated in a HIV prison-based peer program.
3. Devise a research question that will guide your search. For example, “Do male serial killers differ from female serial killers?” My question would be, “Do HIV prison-based peer programs increase levels of knowledge among participants?”
4. Locate citations that may be useful to your topic and that will help answer your research question. Briefly examine the works to determine if they are relevant. Focus on books and journal articles. You may use magazine and newspaper articles but only three. Do not use internet sources. Do not use textbooks.
5. Write a short summary of the work if it proves to be useful to your research. This is not a research paper, so please, only a summary. This also does not require you to read the entire work. You should be able to skim through it quickly to determine if it is relevant and to determine what the author is talking about.
6. You are required to have 10 sources and to follow the APA Citation Style.
7. After reviewing your annotated bibliography, I want you to devise a hypothesis. Now that you have read some works dealing with your topic, you should have a better idea of what you would find if you conducted a study on a similar topic. If you were conducting a real study, this is exactly the process you would use to begin your research. For example: “Female serial killers do differ from male serial killers.” I would propose the following question for my research study,
“Inmates who participate in HIV programs are more knowledgeable about HIV than inmates who do not participate in such programs.”

Comparative Analysis of Tourism Impacts in Communities around the World
Within this option, you have the opportunity to choose one of the three following topics among tourism industry’s impact in a country (USA, Turkey, Jamaica etc.), a series of countries (countries in the Mediterranean region, Caribbean, States located in the south eastern part of the USA etc.) or a series of US states including the SC and write a 6-8 pages professional paper for your final term project. The idea is to draw parallels, similarities or differences of associated impacts in more than one place. There are a few examples posted from the relevant literature on the Blackboard under Course Documents, as well as a detailed guide for each of the projects and how they will be graded. Recognize that your final project will be worth 25 % of the total grade for the course! Choose either one or all of the following three topics.

Papers: Papers will be graded according to how well you answer the question(s) posed, how well you support your position with evidence from the assigned readings, adherence to rules of grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and the proper citation of evidence. The essay will focus on an in-depth examination of one concept topic area.

The topic area is: ETHICS

The task is to demonstrate an understanding of the topic area, and critical analysis of it in the context of Social Work /Human Services industry, i.e. why is it important to know about this when working in the social work/human services industry and what challenges might arise.

There is the option to narrow the focus down to look at an aspect of the topic, eg look at a couple of ethical principles like confidentiality and duty of care

How to structure essay:

Example– Ethics: First you should describe the broad concept. ie Ethics are …ethics come from …. Then look at it from SWHS context – eg ethics are important in social work because… Specific ethical considerations include… (1)…, (2) …& (3) ….

You could do a paragraph on each of these. And then look at how they intersect, what challenges might arise eg what happens if personal and organisational ethics collide or other issues andnhow might you resolve that?

related to one another. We noticed in the end of 2014 and the beginning of this year the huge drop in oil prices. What were the reasons of that? Who are the winner, or who get the benefit? Who are the losers? How did it affect the world economy? How did it affect the US economy? How did it affect the economy of the leading oil exporting countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, UAE, and Kuwait? Why this is a huge issue? Try to answer these kind of questions. You can come up with your own as long it’s relevant to the topic.
In the conclusion, do not summarize the paper. Try to end up the paper by stating how would this issue affect the engineering field. How do engineers get affected by the changing in economy, especially when oil prices changes.
