How can enduring peace be achieved? Using at least three thinkers (from above), answer this question by taking into account concepts such as negative and positive peace.

1- How can enduring peace be achieved? Using at least three thinkers (from above), answer this question by taking into account concepts such as negative and positive peace, structural and cultural violence, and forgiveness and reconciliation. Under what conditions is peace possible? What are the greatest obstacles to peace?

2- Compare and Contrast Gandhi and Fanon’s positions on the relative merits of the use of both nonviolence and violence in the struggle for liberation from oppression. Using the work of these thinkers, explain what constitutes nonviolence and violence. Do either Gandhi or Fanon think that violence is ever warranted? What arguments do they provide in support of their positions? (Use Gandhi and Fanon books above)

How did people and animals survive in regions with extremely cold temperatures? Are people healthy living in extremely cold climates?Explain.

1. Human food security linked to adjacent forest areas
2. Why do humans really like and have a psychological link to trees and forests?
3. How has the ratio of the amount of trees harvested to trees regrowing back changed over the last century, i.e., are the forests being harvested at a faster rate than they are growing back? Depending on how you answered this question, speculate whether you think the US is able to satisfy its wood needs from its own forests?
4. Why does Starbucks need to think about forest certification if they are growing coffee? What practices do local coffee growers have to follow to become certified and be part of Starbucks preferred buyers program? What benefits do local coffee growers get from participating in Starbucks program?
5. How did people and animals survive in regions with extremely cold temperatures? Are people healthy living in extremely cold climates? How does climate change impact people surviving in cold places? Explain your answer.
6.Why are international organizations beginning to rank countries by their Human Development Index (HDI)?

Evaluate the ways in which cultural anthropology affects your ability to define and perform your civic responsibilities at local, regional, national, and global levels.

There are two primary goals for this assignment. First, this assignment assesses your ability to synthesize the course material and your experiences. Second, this assignment assesses your ability to evaluate the ways in which cultural anthropology affects your ability to define and perform your civic responsibilities at local, regional, national, and global levels. You should note that the paper itself is split into two distinct parts to highlight each of these goals.

REFLECTION PAPER INSTRUCTIONS

To work effectively as a cultural anthropologist you must be able to “speak the language” of cultural anthropology. The first half of your paper requires you to use the language of cultural anthropology (i.e. bolded terms from the class material) to your own way of life to illustrate your fluency in the language of cultural anthropology. In other words, I would like you to provide a brief description of the culture of a society or social group of which you are a member using at least five of the key concepts introduced in the class material. Once you have conducted this brief ethnography, you will hold the status of a cultural anthropologist. As with any status, there are multiple roles associated roles. Thus, the second half of your paper requires you to describe what you feel are your roles as a cultural anthropologist within the local, regional, national, and global community that surrounds you. Each of these sections should be roughly two-pages in length, making your entire paper between four to five pages long. I anticipate that you will find it difficult to address each of these goals in two pages; however, the page length requirements are set in this manner to help you develop the skills to address fairly large topics in a clear and concise manner. To assist in this developmental process, I encourage all of you to write whatever comes to mind at length and then edit your paper so as to highlight what you feel are the strongest and most essential elements.

Using the article, “Doing Sociological Research”, describe the main variables Zimbardo sought to research during his experiment. How did Zimbardo attempt to measure and observe these variables?

•Use the article, “Social Facts” and the video to explain how the adoption of social roles )such as “prison guard” or “prisoner”) are examples of social facts and therefore within the realm of sociological study.
•Using the article, “Doing Sociological Research”, describe the main variables Zimbardo sought to research during his experiment. How did Zimbardo attempt to measure and observe these variables? What were some of the complications Zimbardo experienced when trying to isolate for particular variables?
•Using the article, “Doing Sociological Research”, whether or not it was ethical to do this study? Was it right to trade the suffering experienced by participants for the knowledge gained by the research?

•Lastly, explain in what ways might the information in the readings and the video be useful for you outside of the class context. (your response should be at least one paragraph long)

Determine the response of different orders of RC circuit, the use of RC circuit in filtering signals and understand the properties of a wheatstone bridge.

The purpose of this experiment is to determine the response of different orders of RC circuit, the use of RC circuit in filtering signals and understand the properties of a wheatstone bridge. In part 1, the values of the capacitor and the resistor were 0.13 x 10-6 F and 9.906 kOhms respectively. The time for the voltage across the capacitor in increase to 63% of this input value, which was 3.2V, was 1.28ms. The amplitude ratio of -3dB frequency for a low pass filter was -3.24; the ratio of -3dB frequency for a high pass filter was -3.25dB. In part 2, the balance value of RX1 was 120 Ohms, where the wheatstone bridge voltage is around zero. The voltage varied when choosing different balance value of RX1.

Describe the basic characteristics of Time Machine to the Italian Renaissance and explain exactly why you chose it. Compare what you find with modern American civilization.

Time Machine to the Italian Renaissance
Paper details

You find yourself hurtling back through the centuries in a time machine! Terrified, you look around and discover a button and these instructions: you may stop the machine only once and it must be a place you’ve studied in world history (see below). Wherever you stop is where you will stay. At which time and place would you stop? Describe the basic characteristics of this civilization and explain exactly why you chose it. Compare what you find with modern American civilization. Which do you prefer? Why?

The development and perception of Christian saints in the medieval church during the Middle Ages.

The development of saints in the Middle Ages and the Medieval Church
Paper details

The purpose of the paper is to talk about the development and perception of Christian saints in the medieval church during the Middle Ages. Some ares to talk about should be the differences between a martyr and a saint, the requirements to be declared a saint, the use of relics to worship saints, the effects of hagiography on the perception of saints. In addition, some discussion about obstacles set forth by the secular clergy with regards to the canonization of saint and gender differences with regards to the view on saints should be discussed. This could include the lack of women saints due to misogyny.
