Please read “Bluewater Resort Case Background” file before you start to write
The communication situation involves writing persuasively to one of the other four people in order to resolve a potentially embarrassing, and libelous, situation. Be sure to read the Operating Procedures for the Codes of Conduct for the Utilities Commission Public Staff file.
Instructions: You may choose from two options to help facilitate the completion of your review of the Bluewater Resort rate increase application. Remember, your ultimate goal is to maintain a good working relationship with all parties involved. You will write a one page memo or business letter to one of stakeholders in The Bluewater Resort Case.
Option 1: Write to Eric Henderson explaining why lobbying practices are unacceptable. Indicate that a copy is being sent to your manager, but take care to not make Henderson overly worried, or worse, defensive. You cannot prove that he was lobbying (you have no receipt from the weekend’s stay, and it is your word against his), so you do not want to accuse him of this even if you believe he was intentionally trying to influence your decision. This is the first time he has had dealings with the state so you want to help him in his future interactions. Since this is an external audience, think about what the proper format would be for your written communication.

With the advent of virtual meeting technologies, the expanding presence of social media and the continued budget pressures facing corporations, what is your opinion regarding the future of large face-to-face meetings?

I. Go to the NY Fed’s “Eight Different Faces of the Labor Market” webpage available at http://www.newyorkfed.org/labor-conditions/ where the Federal Reserve Bank of New York presents a variety of important labor market indicators. The site provides both definitions and graphs. Click on the appropriate graphs/sections to answer the following questions:

1. What is the current unemployment rate and how has the rate varied since 2000?
2. What is the current employment-to-population ratio and how has it varied since January 2000?
3. Go to the “Hours” section and look at the average weekly hours 12-month change graph. What pattern(s) do you observe in the data?
4. How has the Labor Force Participation Rate changed since January 2000?
5. What is the most recent figure for initial jobless claims? (Note: This figure is in thousands.)
6. Looking at average hourly earnings (12-month % change), at what average rate would you say wages have been growing since the recession?
7. How have vacancy rates and hire rates changed from January 2002 through the present?
8. What is the current trend in the quits rate?
9. Based on your analysis, how would you say the labor market is performing?
10. Are there any other factors that you think one should consider in evaluating the labor market? You can draw from additional data on the site and class discussions to answer this question.

Paper details

Answer the following question from the required book The Stickup Kids in a 4-5 page double-spaced typewritten essay. Do not review the book. The essay provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their writing skills, as well as the application of sociological concepts.
Provide examples from the book, including quotes. Long quotes should be single-spaced and indented (see page 130 of The Stickup Kids). Be sure to refer to specific pages of the book in your essay.

Instructions: Each group must do the following:
1. Use the data provided by the instructor.
2. Provide descriptive statistics for each variable in the report (mean, median, variance, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, etc.). Plot the data and include the graphs in the report.
3. Estimate the regression model using Excel or a software of your choice. Create a table of coefficients and standard errors. Plot the necessary graphs to check the required conditions about the error terms.
4. Analyze the Excel output: Test for each coefficient of the regression model and for the regression model as a whole. Assess the regression model: how well does it fit the data? Are the required conditions about the errors satisfied?
5. Prepare and submit a report.

Annotated Bibliography
An annotated bibliography requires you to think critically about your sources in some depth. It helps you to re-evaluate your own arguments and see how you can best use each source in your research paper.
Instructions
Choose three of your sources to annotate. You may use one of the sources that you used in the SAS assignment; the other two must be new ones. Try to choose at least two print sources (online journals or books with print versions are also acceptable) that are academic in nature, i.e. a book or article in a reputable journal which itself uses academic sources.
Use a correct MLA-style bibliographical entry for each source as the heading. Write a summary paragraph in which you describe the main ideas and content of the source.

Write a further paragraph in which you a) evaluate the source (author’s credentials, importance to its field, quality of information/arguments) and b) describe how you plan to make use of it in your research (for information, to support an argument, as a counter-argument, etc.)

Write-up of one cultural event (a movie, play, lecture, religious service, etc.) The write-up must include an analysis of the event in relation to material covered in class. Write-ups of religious services MUST be from one of the major religious faiths different from your own (catholic). For example, if you identify as Protestant, you can attend and write-up services at a mosque, synagogue, etc., but not a different Christian denomination.

Find a cultural event (movie, play, lecture, service) about the JUDAISM and write about something that you can debate; something that you notice is similar/different from your religion (catholic) what and why did you think was interesting, etc. Do not just talk/describe or compare the two religions. Talk about your experience with the cultural event but do not talk bad about the judaism or insinuate that your religion (catholic) is better

Select one of the 9 proposals and explain to me (the policymaker) why it is the best proposal to improve the country’s economic future. A strong explanation will refer to concepts we have discussed in class (like equity, efficiency, distributional implications).

You are required to choose two different pieces of research that address a common topic (e.g., teachers’ questioning techniques, using technology in the L2 classroom, etc.), and prepare a comparative essay that includes these main components:
• For background/context, critically consider the main professional, public, and scholarly debates on the topic you have chosen.

1 List three skin conditions and one hair condition that are said to be genetically inherited and discuss how these conditions could relate to the performance of a beauty treatment
2 Describe three effects the endocrine system and hormones could have on the skin or hair. Discuss how these effects could relate to our beauty treatments.
Section 4 – Percutaneous absorption
The role of percutaneous absorption in beauty treatments is important as it has the potential to affect the major skin chemicals of the skin.
1 Outline the different absorption pathways that products could penetrate the skin
2 Discuss the different factors that affect the rates and ability for absorption to occur
3 Name a beauty treatment that involves product absorption. Describe the changes that could occur in the skin from the treatment.
