3) H.G. Wells’s “The Stolen Bacillus” (1895) tells the story of a French anarchist who visits a British scientist in his lab and threatens to carry out bioterrorism. Anarchists in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century, especially in France, supported the abolishment of government. Wells’s story is probably the first story ever written that relates to bioterrorism, which involves using biological agents to terrorize the public. How does H.G. Wells’s “The Stolen Bacillus” suggest potential dangers of bioterrorism? How does Wells use satire (i.e. ridicule human vices) in this story? Why do you think he chooses satire as a literary device when dealing with bioterrorism? How does this story relate to contemporary concerns about bioterrorism? e.g. The articles that I have read raise questions for me about young people’s physical development and the influences of sickness and community resources on this development. All three articles highlighted how money is crucial if we are to help young people reach their milestones. In early childhood this was a child care centre providing educational activities, in young people by providing the necessary medical equipment to assist the treatment of illness and also providing opportunities to develop physical strength.
All these resources are needed if developmental milestones are to be reached.
