Students are to choose and read one of the presented articles and answer the essay questions from below. The articles are empirical in nature and were written for a captivated audience hence, many may find certain parts of the readings difficult to understand (i.e., the results section). Students may want to focus on the Introduction (describes the issue and surveys previous studies), Methods (describes how this particular study was carried out), and Discussion (interpretation of the study and what the results may mean) sessions in order to get a general understanding to of the article. Write an essay (for each article chosen)—in your own words—that addresses the following questions:

1. What is the purpose of the research?

2. What type of research method was used (e.g., description of subjects, how many, how were they selected; what apparatus or materials were used, and procedures).

3. Identify the independent variable(s) & dependent variable(s)

4. What were the main results?

5. How does the research relate to topics you’ve learned in your course (be specific)?

6. How does the research apply to your everyday life experiences (be specific)?

Be sure to include as a cover sheet (this page does not count toward the minimum 2 page limit) the following:

Your name, student ID number, instructors name and course number
article’s title, authors, and date of study

All papers must be submitted to YOUR PSY 100 INSTRUCTOR by the last regular scheduled day of classes (not including study period or finals week) by 5pm.

The paper should at least be two pages and written without excessive spelling errors, poor grammar, and punctuation. Please note that all essays must be original and done independently from other students. If any form is plagiarized from another student and/or some outside source, students may risk disciplinary action that is not limited to the following: an incomplete for the course; failing the course, and/or suspension from the university. Non-compliance of any of the aforementioned rules and the paper will not be accepted and graded as an incomplete paper.

For this assignment, we will focus on Overstock.com., a large retail company that self-identifies as follows:
“Overstock.com is a technology-based retail company offering customers a wide variety of high-quality products, at great value, with superior customer service. WEEK 1:
As you research Overstock.com, you may want to compare and contrast that company with the other massive retailers – whether on-line (e.g., Amazon.com, Ebay.com), or brick-and-mortar retailers (e.g., Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Sears).
Please visit the Overstock.com site, and identify the company’s mission and vision, as well as their major stakeholders (you may need to interpret and/or make assumptions here, as all mission and vision statements are not crystal clear – nor are they always explicitly stated. You should note that the stakeholders aren’t simply the shareholders. “Stakeholders” include everyone and anyone who is affected by the success or failure of the company).

1. The essays should be Double-Spaced and written in Times New Roman font with a point size of 12.

2. The top, bottom, left, and right margins should all be the standard 1″ in size.

3. The single-spaced header on the first page should include your Name and the Chapter/Document Number from which your analysis is drawn. There is no need for a header on any subsequent page. There is also no need for a Title. Please be aware that if you should decide to include in your submission a Title that this will not be counted towards your minimum length requirement.

4. All submitted PDAs must be a MINIMUM length of ONE (1) FULL page. For any document that you choose, you will be asked to address a minimum of two subjects. First, you will be asked to briefly summarize the document highlighting its key points, elements, and/or themes. Secondly, you will be asked to provide an analysis of the historical importance of this document and how it helps you understand the larger historical processes at play in the Textbook chapter it is associated with. If your responses to these two elements were half a page each, you would have met the minimum length requirement of one FULL page. This does not mean 1/2 a page, nor even 3/4 of a page. You will be penalized for any submission that does not meet this minimum length requirement.

5. Because of the short length of these assignments, please avoid directly quoting the document unless it is absolutely essential to your argument. Instead, briefly paraphrase the passage(s) and focus instead upon providing your anaylsis and supporting your argument(s).

6. There is no need to provide a citation for the single document you are analyzing. However, if you have used outside sources beyond the documents provided in Reading the American Past, please include citations using the MLA Format. This will include in-text citations and a Works Cited Page. The Works Cited Page should be on a separate page at the conclusion of your essay and will not count towards the minimum length requirement.

Use the Research Analysis Job Aid to complete this assignment. Choose a disorder and search for a video that corresponds with that disorder. Use the material on the film to serve as background information about the disorder.

Prepare a 825+ -word paper that discusses research-based interventions to treat psychopathology.

Review and differentiate the characteristics of the selected disorder and discuss the research about intervention strategies for the disorder by completing the following:

Evaluate three peer reviewed research studies using the Research Analysis.
Conceptualize the disorder using the biopsychosocial or diathesis-stress models.
Discuss the treatments or interventions that have been shown to be the most effective for your selected disorder. Why?

Cite at least five peer-reviewed sources.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

CUSTOMIZE CONTENT: The essay provides logical discussions regarding the elements and controversial aspects associated with the nature/nurture debate. Also included are general discussions regarding twin studies on alcoholism, and a study on kindness in children. Discussions which identify, describe, and compare two specific studies are not fully developed and require additional detail.

graduation, you have been rising up through the ranks at the local police department. You were a police officer when you attended college, but you had not advanced too quickly within the police department. Your upward career progression was launched with your graduation from college, and you have now reached the rank of Captain, where many people think that one day you will be the chief of police.

As for now, you are trying your best to do everything right as a captain. The chief calls you into a meeting with the six other captains in the police department and explains to you that he is starting a new community policing unit in the police department. He explains that he will be selecting one of his six captains to be in charge of this new division, and it will be a promotion and a raise of $20,000 per year if selected. The police chief will select the new captain over the community unit based on a report they each submit to the chief. The report must answer all of the following questions:

• What is the purpose of your community policing unit? Outline the goals of this new unit.

• What type of officers would you want working in your unit? Explain. Specifically, for which qualifications and experience would you be looking?

Your assignment is to prepare this report for the police chief. Make sure to answer all questions asked, and provide sufficient support for each of your responses.
