As a senior manager, you have been asked to undertake a review of current management practices in terms of motivating staff to be more committed and enthusiastic about organisational aims and improving performance. It is clear to you that staff lack a clear vision of organisation mission.

You have decided to determine whether the managers are affective in providing sound leadership and motivation to help achieve desired outcomes. One of your first tasks is to identify which leadership characteristics and style would best suit the organisations and staff needs, starting with a comparison of leadership style applied in different organisations so that you can identify relevant characteristics. You decided to undertake a critical analysis of leadership characteristics and styles, you make a proposal to management about which particular style of leadership would be most effective to implement. Your analysis will also include a review of motivation theories in order to determine which leadership style would have a positive impact on staff motivation.

Present your findings in an individual business report in 600 words excluding cover sheet, reference list and Appendices providing evidence.

Provide an account of the social context in Jamaica West Indies, considering issues of class, gender, ethnicity, and religion. Compare these social influences with those from the British (community of London) and consider how these influences could have different or similar impacts on the perception of children and childhood within these communities. In turn, discuss how these different perceptions could influence the development of children. You should draw on current literature on child development in support of your discussion.

Discuss this statement taking into account the main aims and objectives of the primary school curriculum.

Assignment 2: Literature review
Deadline: Week 12, Friday, 18th December, 2015 (on-line submission) Length: 3000 words
Weighting 70%
Choose ONE of the three titles below:
1. EFL teachers who wish to move from other levels to work with young children have a major orientation to undertake with regard to their expectations of teaching – at least as great a change as for an experienced primary school teacher learning a new language (Brumfit 1991). Discuss the changes in approach that must be made by an EFL teacher used to working with teenagers or adults.
2. Through stories and drama, children develop understanding of themselves and the world around them, (Read, 2007:114) There are various approaches to using stories in class. Discuss these approaches to highlight how story telling can be a useful vehicle for organising a Foreign Language programme for young learners. In your discussion, you should refer to specific skills which would be required on the part of the teacher. You should support your arguments, where necessary, with examples from popular story books or childrens plays you are familiar with, or those covered in the course.
3. Learning to learn is the most important aspect of childrens overall educational development. As a vitally important part of their education, children need to develop awareness, strategies and attitudes that will enable them to constantly adapt to change and meet new learning challenges competently and confidently in a life-long way (Read, 2007). Discuss this statement taking into account the main aims and objectives of the primary school curriculum.
4. It is important for teachers to be familiar with the universal aspects of childrens development; however, it is equally important that this is balanced out with focus on the individual child. Discuss and exemplify, with reference to educational and psychological theories about how children learn. Analyse these theories and discuss:
(i) how they relate to good practice in the teaching of a foreign language to primary school children; (ii) how children are very different as individuals with their strengths and weaknesses as learners; (iii) how primary school curriculum, and the teachers, can take these differences into account to enhance childrens learning.

Re:Topic 1 DQ 1

The capstone project that I am interested in doing is readmission prevention. I was able to input this subject in the CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) database and it came up with over 7,000 different results. I was then able to refine my search to about 1700 articles related to this subject. CINAHL databases are the most widely-used and respected research tools for nurses, students and allied health professionals around the globe (). This information will let me develop a detailed capstone project to help others in preventing readmission of patients. New regulations from insurance companies are preventing reimbursements for healthcare facilities from readmissions within 30 days of discharge. Today’s healthcare is on preventative care and education is a large part of the transition. Hopefully through researching this subject, educating nurses on preventative measures for patients will reduce the amount of readmissions of patients with the same ailments. This includes databases on readmission statistics and numerical data, staff development, and nursing personnel education. These journals will help develop ways to prevent readmission for the nurses to teach the patients.

Re:Topic 1 DQ 2

When searching for research that applies to your topic you can narrow the search by selecting limiters such as “peer review”, “scholarly journals”, creating specific dates, and choosing whether you want full text or just the abstract. Eliminating the specific terms and using more general terms in relation to the topic can broaden the search. Advantages to this are it helps sort thought the research that is not relevant as there is a ton of research available. The disadvantage is that there may be great research that is missed due to wording. The good think is you can always change the wording with in the subject lines to improve or change some of the research that the site finds relevant. Often when you restrict to just “full text” journals you may miss relevant journals, which are actually available on other databases. If the journal is not found you can always submit a request to the librarian and they can help retrieve the article from different institutions.
When searching thought Lope Search at the GCU online library, there are several rows to which you can add key words. For instance when searching this afternoon I entered “Driving” into the first subject area. I then checked the box “All Subjects” and selected “Nursing & Health Science”. Next I checked the “Peer Review” box and then selected search. Once in, in the second subject box I put in the word “opioid” and then in the 3rd box I entered “adverse effects”. At this point I was able to narrow my search to the last five years and find the most relevant research for my topic.
