Larry Landlord has recently renovated an apartment and has put it on the market to be rented for $800.00 a month. Larry Landlord has been in business for approximately five (5) years and has had both positive and negative experiences with tenants. Larry Landlord is hoping to find a good, long-term tenant for his apartment. Roger Renter saw Larry’s sign for the apartment for rent and thought the location and the apartment would be perfect. Roger met Larry to look at the apartment and Roger fell in love with it. All of the interior fixtures had been replaced and the unit had a nice large closet. Roger noticed that although newly painted, the exterior of the apartment did show a little bit of wear. Because of the condition of the exterior of the building, Roger asked Larry about any roof leaks. Larry stated that he had never had a leak and was not aware of any leaks.

Roger and Larry entered into a valid contract for the rental of the apartment. (Note: The issue of whether or not a contract exists is NOT part of this question. For purposes of this question assume the contract is valid and there are no issues with the contract.)

Roger Renter was very happy in his new location; the apartment was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Larry Landlord was also very happy because Roger Renter was a model tenant. Roger Renter paid on time and was quiet and respectful to other tenants.

The part of the country where Roger rented was rainy in the summertime. Roger rented and moved into the apartment in October. In June, a tremendous rainstorm occurred and Roger’s roof began to leak. The leak was minor at first and Roger merely put a trash can under the leak and had no other issues that month. When handing over his monthly rent check, Roger told Larry about the small leak. Larry thanked Roger for letting him know about the leak and told Roger he would have it fixed.

The next month the rains came again and the leak grew larger in Roger’s apartment. Roger was not home at the time of the rain and therefore the leak damaged some of Roger’s furniture. Roger called Larry to let him know that there was a leak and asked when it might be fixed. Roger also stated that he thought Larry had fixed the roof. Larry curtly stated, “When it rains, sometimes it pours. When it pours, sometimes it leaks.” Roger did not like Larry’s tone or response and called back to ask when the roof might be fixed. Larry stated, “When I get to it.” The following day, Roger sent Larry a note about the roof leak and asked Larry to please address the issue.

The week before the rent was due, another rainstorm occurred and the leak was even larger. This time the leak damaged Roger’s clothing, furniture, and some precious items he had inherited from family members. Roger called Larry and asked Larry to fix roof immediately. Larry responded in a similar and condescending manner. Roger hung up the phone and threw his baseball bat against the wall, damaging the drywall and knocking out an electrical socket.

Since it was the rainy season, Roger knew it would rain again and therefore simply moved his items away from the leak and did nothing to help mitigate the damage from the leaking roof.

Larry came into the apartment to investigate the leak and found damage from not only the leak but also from the thrown baseball bat. Roger states that the baseball bat damage was a direct result of Larry’s inability to fix the leak based on his anger from Larry’s curt response.

Three-Four (3-4) pages single-spaced, written in proper paper format with citations and bibliography (Use whichever style manual your major discipline requires—but please provide page numbers for citations).
Take one philosophical position on equality/justice from Naomi Wolf and discuss ethical issue of women inequality in workplace. Fully explain the position and the argument justifying this position.
Compare the chosen philosophical position with philosopher John Stuart Mill. Use this philosopher to help develop and show a deeper understanding of the issue. What the philosopher helps you defend or criticize a particular practice?

Please use the following rubric to help you organize and structure your paper:
Rubric/grade criteria:

1. State your topic, why it is a problem, and your position on it in a clear thesis statement. It should be clear to me where you stand/what your view is. You will be developing and defending this view. /10

2. Develop the philosophical position by outlining the main points of the two philosophers’ views (one from unit 3, and one from either unit 1 or 2). Show what the philosophers’ arguments are in a step-by-step manner /10

3. Develop your own position in response to the philosophers. You may agree or disagree. Outline the strongest reasons for your position. /10

4. Anticipate strong objections to your view. What would a reasonable person who disagrees say and why (what reasons)? /10

5. Further support your position. Show why, despite a strong objection, your view is still correct.              /10

6. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the readings, the authors’ views, class discussion, and the many issues involved in these complex and often contentious topics. Determine if the citizens of your chosen country prefer high or low context communication.

nternational business has become essential to the success of many companies big and small. Advancements with the Internet and updates in communication technology have made expansion into foreign markets easier than ever before. However, businesses still struggle with adjusting strategies to foreign cultures and traditions.
For this week’s assignment, a large business in your area is looking to expand into China, Brazil, India, or Russia. You, being a management whiz, have been hired as an outside consultant to conduct research on the communication methods and professional expectations of this foreign country. You will then need to report back to the company and share what you’ve found.
It’s your choice on which country you’d like to research between China, Brazil, India, or Russia. You only need to pick one. Also, you have your choice for the type of submission you’d like to send in. It can be a standard research paper, PowerPoint presentation slides, or three fold brochures. The choice is up to you, but make sure your assignment at least covers the following:

Topics to be Addressed

  • Determine if the citizens of your chosen country prefer high or low context communication.
  • Provide an example that supports your claim.
  • Compare and contrast greetings and other nonverbal communication between the U.S and your chosen country.
  • Explain how business professionals in your chosen country feel about time. Are you expected to always be on time or is being late acceptable?
  • Include anything else of interest that your research has found and could impact communication during business with this country.

Explain strategies to support children learning a second language.

Literacy Lesson Plan

Create a developmentally appropriate literacy lesson plan that supports language and literacy experiences.

Include the following in your lesson plan, using the Lesson Plan Template:

  1. Identify the lesson objectives.
  2. Describe the alignment with language and literacy standards.
  3. Describe the lesson procedure. This should be detailed so that another teacher could use this to implement the lesson.
  4. Explain strategies to support children learning a second language.
  5. Explain modifications for students with special needs.
  6. Identify appropriate materials.  Use the textbook and at least one outside resource, with citations in APA format.
  7. Create an assessment plan.  How will you measure improvement?

It is required that you use the Lesson Plan Template to complete this portion of your assignment. While certain components of the lesson plan template are highlighted in the steps above, it is required that you complete all sections of the template.  It is suggested that you utilize the Early Childhood and Child Development: Lesson Plan Handbook  as a guide for how to more effectively  plan this lesson.  Your assignment must be formatted according to APA style, citing two to three scholarly resources (including the course text).  Since you will be using a template, it is not necessary to include a title and cover page.

Since this is an assignment that you will be able to use in your future role, share your lesson plan with the class through the Doc Sharing tab.  Doing this will allow others to see various language lessons. This will provide you with peer feedback that could help you to continue to grow.  That said, you will still need to upload your assignment for grading as a Word file.
