Correct grasp of factual details from the case study. Your analysis needs to demonstrate familiarity with the factual details of the case (e.g. events, characters, etc). Please be specific and succinct in referring to factual evidence from the case. At the same time, make sure you dont spend too much time / space simply summarizing the case study, to the expense of the actual case analysis.
Ability to analyze the situation described in the case by drawing on concepts and theories discussed in the module. Your analysis needs to be specific and substantiated avoid vague statements (e.g. Berg failed to engage relevant stakeholders versus Berg failed to engage X stakeholder in Y situation; this person is important because a, b, c) and explain why you drew certain inferences about the situation presented in the case.
You must draw on relevant literature in order to analyze the case and make recommendations. The lectures and the weekly readings will provide the core theoretical frameworks you should be referring to, in order to make sense of the situation presented. You are free to draw on further relevant readings.
You should also consider carefully selecting a set of concepts and issues to focus on, as you will not be able to cover exhaustively within the word limit every relevant aspect of consulting (weeks 5&6), power and politics (week 3) or persuasion skills (week 4).
A case study is not an essay, so you are not expected to discuss theories at length or in isolation however, it is appropriate and necessary to sometimes provide definitions of key concepts, or explain certain taxonomies or theoretical perspectives in order to support your analysis. Such theoretical discussions should be clear, supported by academic references, succinct and ultimately linked to your analysis of the case facts and to your recommendations.
Accurate referencing style: in-text referencing (including page numbers when necessary), and Harvard referencing style for the bibliography/reference list. There is no ideal number of sources you should use, although I would expect your analysis to draw on a minimum of 5 readings (given the issues you are meant to discuss).
