ASSIGNMENT 1:  Writing the Research Proposal

 

Due Date:  Week 4

 

Late assignments will not be accepted.

 

Objective:

 

The objective of the research proposal is to provide background information and the reason for conducting your study.

 

Learning Outcome:

Students will be able to write a research proposal as per accepted professional        standards. For this course, it will be APA format.

  • Course Documents (including power point presentations and sample papers)

  • Abstract
  • Purpose Statement & Rationale
  • Statement of Qualification
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology
  • Expected Findings and Implications
  • Bibliography

 

Requirement Details

 

  1. Write a cover page. It must include a header, running head, the title of the project, your name, and the institution to whom you are submitting the proposal. (See Lester p.323)

 

  1. Write a paragraph of 50 to 120 words. It must be a summary of your project.
    1. Write a sentence stating the topic
    2. Write 1-2 sentences stating the purpose of the project
    3. Write 1- 2 sentences explaining your methodology.
    4. Write 2-3 sentences stating your expected conclusions and implications. (See Lester pp. 322-323)

 

  1. Write a paragraph of 4- 6 sentences stating your rationale, i.e. your reason for doing the project and identify a minimum ONE topic you plan to include in your project.  (*SO, YOU ONLY NEED TO WRITE ONE PARAGRAPH HERE)

 

  1. (Optional) Write a paragraph of 4 – 6 sentences stating your experience, if any, and any other qualification you may have .

 

  1. Write a minimum of ONE paragraphs (5 -7 sentences each) reflecting on books, articles, etc. you have examined in preparation for your project. *please just cite your sources using name and date (year or day/month/year) of the publication**

 

  1. Write a paragraph of 5 – 10 sentences describing your research methods. One or more methods.

 

  1. Write a paragraph of 4 – 6 sentences stating what you expect to find out and possible implications.

 

 

 

 

Assessment:

 

  • This assignment is 10% of the final grade.
