For this assignment, I would like you to write a letter to the governor of your home state in favor of or against the death penalty. (Before writing, you should find out whether your state has a death penalty law.)

You may also include statistics from outside sources, but keep in mind this is not a research paper. You don’t have to use outside sources to get an A. Please cite the quotations from our textbook and statistics from outside sources according to MLA or APA standards.
You should structure your paper as an actual letter. Begin with something like “Dear Governor Hassan,” and end with your name. How you structure the paragraphs in between is up to you. Of course, if you use poor grammar, you’ll sound like an idiot and weaken your cause.
