Support or refute the argument that warfare in the Napoleonic era is fundamentally similar to warfare as it is practiced today
WRITING REQUIREMENTS
There are two (2) writing submissions required for grade in H100. The assignments are:
A. Sentence Outline (I have an outline, but need help with it)
Write a double-spaced one-page outline of the question you plan to answer in your argumentative essay that includes the thesis, major points, and supporting points of evidence about what you plan to write in your argumentative essay. The outline is due at the beginning of your H108 class. Paragraph C below lists the topics for this essay.
The graded requirement will be a sentence outline of no more than one double-spaced page in length. The outline will include an attention step, thesis statement, major points of evidence, and conclusion. This requirement is pass/fail. See Annex D for instructions on creating a sentence outline. Your instructor will return your outline with comments on how to improve your argument. You must attach this to your argumentative essay when you turn in that requirement. Failure to complete a passing outline will result in the essay grade being reduced ten (10) points (a full letter grade).
B. Argumentative Essay
Write a double-spaced three- to five-page argumentative essay on one of the topics in Paragraph C below. This essay is due at the beginning of your H111 class (unless otherwise specified by your instructor).
Be sure to include the topic you are addressing on your cover sheet.
The essay will include documentation in the form of endnotes or footnotes (but not in-text citations). See Annex A for endnote and footnote formats.
It is entirely feasible to complete this requirement using only course materials. You may use additional scholarly sources if you wish. Should you use outside sources you must include a bibliography at the end of your essay. See Annex A for bibliography format. Your bibliography must include at least two references from H100 course materials.
