The Bible and Economics
The bible and economics are two very distant things. It is difficult for anyone to believe that the bible can describe economics. God being the owner of the universe, and creating the world’s habitats in pairs describe the basics of economics. In context, the text explains the background history of finance and economics in the first chapters. The book explains the organization of business and the roles that the financial management play. The bible also introduces humanity in the first chapters. The Ten Commandments are the foundation of biblical economic theory (Christian Broadcasting Network, n.d.).
Further, the bible proceeds to explain the meaning of wealth in the next chapters. God promises to multiply the descendants of Abraham after destroying the sinful world. The text explains the value of time, finances and money. This is the section where decision making is important in the stock market and investment. In this, the bible explains corresponds as the time when the people of Israelites make decisions concerning their loyalty. Wrong choices always lead to severe consequences. This is the case when one makes wrong stock market and investment decisions (Brealey & Myers, 2012).
The death of Jesus in the New Testament is described as a payment for the sins of mankind. With this, it is clear that human kind owned, but Jesus paid. This compares to financial analysis, debt and payout policy in the text. The concluding chapter in the bible is full of economic predictions (Brealey & Myers, 2012). Time is an important factor as the chapter explains about expected future happenings. The text also concludes with the analysis of future economic possibilities.
