Read Funeral Oration of Pericles (http://faculty.txwes.edu/csmeller/Human-Experience/ExpData09/02GrecoRoman/GrRmRDs/grR_Pericles-Oration/grR_Pericles-Oration.htm) and Cicero’s On Duty (http://faculty.txwes.edu/csmeller/Human-Experience/ExpData09/02GrecoRoman/GrRmWRTs/RomanWritings/Cicero43Duty.html). These are two texts, one Greek and one Roman, are found in the Primary Sources for Unit 2 and they describe what being a good citizen entailed in those cultures.
Your assignment is to read the texts and compare then contrast the ancient writings (Pericles and Cicero). How can you connect any of the concepts written in the texts to the cultures of today.
