Macroeconomics – Current Events Paper
Read and report on an article in the news that deals with macroeconomics. It can be from a newspaper, magazine or the Internet. The Economist and Wall Street Journal are good sources. The article must be on an issue occurring, and reported on, during this semester. In other words, it must be fairly current – not something from several months ago
A. Cite your source (5 points) on a separate piece of paper as the last page of your report. Be sure to include the date of the article, etc.

NOTE: I do not want a copy of the article, however, do not plagiarize. I will NOT accept a paper where most of the content has been copied.
1. Papers will be submitted via Turnitin. Please be sure to view your turnitin score as a paper with a score higher than 20% is not acceptable. You will have the opportunity to correct your paper and lower the score, however, the revised paper must be completed before the deadline.
Note: When you submit your paper via the Dropbox in the course, it is automatically submitted to turnitin. You do not need to do anything.
Opening Paragraph
A. First paragraph of your report should indicate which macroeconomic issue
your article addresses and the specific issue. You must underline the sentence that indicates the issue you are reporting on. For example, if the macroeconomic issue is unemployment then you could state something like the following: The specific issue discussed in this paper is unemployment and its impact on the economy. (5 points)
The report should include the following:
A. Review/synopsis of article (what did the article say in your own words) – be
sure to relate it to one of the following economic issues. The objective is to show that you can recognize and understand an economic issue discussed in the course that is found in the real world. (70 points)

3. Unemployment
4. Recession
5. Income
6. Social Security
7. Budget Deficit
8. Other (with prior approval only)
B. You must include a definition, in your own words, of the macroeconomic issue. Put brackets around the sentence or sentences that include this definition. In other words, if you are reporting on an article on unemployment, be sure to provide the definition of unemployment. (5 points)
IV. Final Paragraph
A. Your interpretation of the article and the issue addressed. (5 points)
