Terrorist Attacks
There have been terrorist activities in history that have incorporated the employment of chemical weapons or biological weapons in their attacks. This essay will discuss two dates of terrorist activities that took place in the nation of America and one date in which the terrorist activities took place in Iraq. As well, there will be the discussion on details of the plot, the motive and the reasons as to why the attacks took place, and also the impact that the attacks had on the economy of the nations in which the attacks took place.
On the 15th of April in the year 2013, there were multiple bombings that did take place near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. In the afternoon on that day, there were two bombs that went off as the runners were about to finish their race. When that explosion occurred, there were three people who lost their lives as a result of the bombing while over two hundred people were badly injured (Infoplease.com, 2015). About three days later after that incident, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released some photos as well as a video of two prime suspects of the bombing. The FBI was hoping that the members of the public would help in the identification of the suspects after they released the photos and the video. Just after a couple of hours after the images were released by the FBI, the two prime suspects were caught on camera robbing a gas station in Central Square. After robbing, the suspects went ahead to shoot and kill a police officer in his car. After that, the two suspects carjacked a car and revealed that they were responsible for the explosions that went off at the marathon. The police officers pursued the vehicle and during the shootout, one officer was shot dead and as well one of the suspects was killed. The other suspect was able to escape and he remained at large for a couple of hours. This caused a massive lockdown for the entire state of Boston. The manhunt came to a close when the suspect was found alive. , this was not a chemical or biological attack!
There was another attack in America on the 24th of January in the year 1975. The bomb exploded in the New York City. During the explosion, there were over fifty people who were injured and at least four people died as a result of the explosion (Daily Kos, 2015). The group that was behind this massive attack was the nationalist group of Puerto Rico. The group did claim responsibility for the act and the authorities were also able to connect thirteen other bombings to the same group. , this was not a chemical or biological attack!
In Iraq, there were at least fifty people who were killed and many were wounded in a bombing on Baghdad, the capital of Iraq (The Independent, 2014). Isis is an Islamist group and is known to be in control of cities and towns that surround Baghdad. The group declared that it was behind the fatal attack. , this was not a chemical or biological attack!
As a result of these attacks, there were some lessons that were learnt as well as the implementation of some policies. The lesson learnt from these attacks was that the countries are quite vulnerable to the terrorist attacks and therefore some security policies were implemented in America in a bid to prevent such attacks from happening in the future. The financial costs were quite high as the intelligence service required a more advanced prowess which did cost much.
