Assignment 4: Internal and External Migration in Selected Countries
Instructions
In this assignment, we will review basic concepts in migration geography and apply them to the discussion of a country with a medium to large sized population. For this assignment, you need to review only one source(Migration in Turkey) but it may be useful to research the physical and human geography of the country in order to better understand the context.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) publishes research reports on migration for various countries. (See: http://publications.iom.int/bookstore/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=42&zenid=alvq30f16r8r2jis7e7bo4s8r2 for the complete list.) Based on your interest, choose one of the selected country reports on migration from the list below. The hyperlink opens to the report which can be downloaded for free through the link near the bottom of the page. There are reports available in French and Spanish but the responses to the questions must be in English.
Review the report and respond to the questions below. Your responses need to be in “your own words.” Please ensure that you properly use the geographic terms discussed in the chapter on “Migration” in the textbook. See page 290.
When providing your response, please ensure that you include the page reference for the information used in the column provided.
