Reading: John Swales “The Concept of a Discourse Community” p. 215
1. Read Swales and summarize his concept of discourse communities. Use this in your paper.
2. Locate a course that you may be taking in the future that requires you to complete a writing project. Explain where you found the writing assignment. This could be a capstone project for your major, or some other important project that you will need to do in the future (a project for a 200, 300 or 400 level class?)
3. Describe the course, and then describe the project.
4. Explain what literacy skills you will need to develop or use to complete the project. Refer to key concepts from Swales article.
