You are the Portfolio Manager at Qantas. The CEO has just spoken to you and requested the following:
The Qantas board has two questions.
Question 1 – Is the merging of Qantas Airlines and Jetstar Airlines into one airline a viable option; and
Question 2 – Can it be done in 12 months.
The Board want your recommendation/s and the supporting arguments that underpin your recommendation/s in the form of a paper.
The assignment is to only include wholly owned airlines of the QANTAS group, ie Qantas and Jetstar Australia. You do not have to include QantasLink as an element of your assignment, while owned by Qantas is crewed and serviced by Cobham Aviation.
Some of the main issues that would need to be addressed are:

Unionised vs non-unionised workforces,
cultural differences between the different airlines.
