Students must choose one of the following two discussion titles
“Bribery and corruption in the public sector, is endemic and unavoidable in all
societies”.
You are to write an essay critically appraising one of the statements above. This should
involve completing an analysis of the current academic literature in the chosen area and
drawing on actual reported cases to form a considered conclusion. The essay will explicitly
address the following matters:
• An analysis of the current academic literature in this area comparing, contrasting and
critiquing views.
• An evaluation of the US and UK regulatory framework in the chosen area.
The essay will be assessed and marked on the level of considered and knowledgeable
discussion of the subject literature, not on a “right” conclusion.
The body of your essay should not materially exceed 1,500 words (excluding references) but
you may add to that additional information in the form of appendices and tables.
In text citations and references should follow the Harvard APA referencing system.
Marking
Marking will be carried out in accordance with the attached marking criteria.
Turn it in
Turnitin is a programme which checks the originality of your assignment. You must submit
your assignment to Turnitin. If you do not, a deduction of 40 percentage points will be
made from your final mark.
To access Turnitin you need to open the unit’s Moodle site. Under the Coursework folder
there are two Turnitin links.
