“For the last paper (8-10 page draft; 10-12 page final) students will need to draw connections between, and marshal evidence from, several of the works read in the course as well outside material in arguing their thesis. Topics should arise based on student interest, but should also have a connection to the course themes. This paper will include some research, with a minimum of three text-based sources required.”
This paper is compare and contrasts an artist in the real life and a character in the movie. The Chinese artist is Ai Weiwei and the character in the movie Rebel Without A Cause is Jim.

INTRODUCTION
Thesis(should in the end of the introduction paragraph): Both Ai Weiwei and Jim are rebels in the societies in which they live who are trying to go against authority in their lives. Wei uses a productive and creative way to rebel against the Chinese government alone, but Jim rebels against school, police and his parents in a destructive way, harming both himself and others.
PART ONE
What are they rebelling against?
Ai Weiwei(activism): “rebel with a cause”. Government, society problem.
Jim: “rebel without a cause”. Parents, school.
PART TWO
How?
Ai Weiwei: “use productive and creative way” ART (analysis one or two artworks)
Jim: “use destructive way” in home: fight with parents
In school: fight with students (cliff jump with Buzz and cause Buzz dead)
PART THREE
Result
Ai: people accept him and more people support him to against government.
Jim: cause Buzz dead, Plato dead
PART FOUR
Why?
Why they want against?
Ai: not satisfy with society, government. Find the problem in government.
Jim: cant find a place in school.
Why they against in this way?
Ai: family background: father: Ai Qing (famous Chinese poet); art education; got family support.
Jim: His parents didn’t give him the right guide to solve the problem.
His parents have distorted value.
PART FIVE
Authority figure and how they react.
Ai: government treat him bad(In jail; destroyed his studio; surveillance him etc.….)
Jim: parents fight with each other; they trying to move to another place; police trying to help him.
