Topic: Globalization and Knowledge Management

Huber (2004) wrote on the topic of organizational learning and knowledge acquisition. He noted that a firm or organization’s survival is linked to three dependencies:

• Survival in a dynamic and competitive business environment requires innovation.
• Innovation requires new knowledge, or a new way of combing current knowledge.
• New knowledge, or a new way of combing current knowledge, requires learning (Huber, 2004, p. 118).

Considering all of the changes and learning that has been accomplished in your field of study during the past two decades, what have you studied or seen as innovative or linked to the creation of new knowledge?

During your course of study, you have been exposed to the areas of distance learning and virtual teams (whether working as a group or with your instructor(s) on a one-on-one basis), so you have seen innovation in terms of moving the classroom from a physical location into a virtual state. With this virtual state in mind, more and more organizations have been able to operate globally to a larger degree. Thus, the sharing of knowledge between organizations has become a valued commodity in the workplace and marketplace.

Specifically, as you write your response to this question, you may want to incorporate how your current level of knowledge can be used in an innovative way to help strengthen or increase the knowledge in your field. Also, you may want to consider how your experience in distance learning has changed or not changed your views on globalization, distance learning, and/or knowledge management.

In this course, you will write a 1,050- to 1,400-word comprehensive Continuing Academic Success essay, due in Week 5. The Week 5 essay will help you apply what you learned in this course and take responsibility for your success in your education and your career. Please review the requirements for the Week 5 assignment to become familiar with the instructions. Starting this week, and in the weeks to come, we will be building upon an outline with a thesis statement, subtopics, and research to assist in your final paper.

For this week, using the Center for Writing Excellence resources, provide your thesis statement and begin creating the informal outline for your Continuing Academic Success essay assignment. Include the following in your outline this week:

• The benefit of creating educational goals, including at least one educational goal you set for yourself
• Your personal learning style, as well as how knowing your learning style can help you be successful as you move through your program and career
• How the writing process can help you advance your education and career
• Which resources, inside and outside of the university, you can use to help you reach your goals and make you more successful
• An explanation of the importance of academic integrity

Topic: Business intelligence

1) The second assignment consists of two activities and relates to the organisation you have chosen for Assignment 1. World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)
1) Practical activity (40% of mark): submission of a working dashboard. Create the design of a dashboard using one of the tools shown in the practicals (Microsoft PowerBI or Tableau). You should submit the dashboard by saving the dashboard as a file (*.pbix or *.twbx) and submit that file with your report (see below). Also include a screenshot in the report. Further you need to add a description of what it contains and how someone can interact with it. Make sure that you use at least one of the new types of visualisations (not just charts). Note that you should focus on externally available data and the data can be different to what you have mentioned in Assignment 1.
2) Written activity (50% of mark): explain the approach taken in deciding what to put into the dashboard to demonstrate your understanding of the business’s need and how often the data will need to be changed (there will always be more data available).
Outline the challenges in developing the dashboard. Provide advice on (a) how the organisation would benefit from more BIA and (b) specific recommendations on what the organisation could do to make implementation easier (eg: data quality, governance of classifications, etc) – refer to BIA lifecycle. For the written component, create a report in a similar format to the first assignment addressing the points above.

According to a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study, nearly half of all high school students have tried smoking at least once. Teens who smoke experience problems, including shortness of breath, headaches, coughing and excess mucus. Smoking can also cause the lungs to grow poorly, which is a major concern for teens who are still developing. Ultimately, teens who continue to smoke are likely to experience more serious health problems such as lung disease, tooth decay, and heart disease.
Using Albert Bandura’s theory of self-efficacy to guide your thought process, respond to the following:
a. Develop one testable, quantitative research question, based on the theory of self-efficacy, that addresses smoking in adolescents. Incorporate at least two concepts from this theory in your question. Include at least one hypothesis.
b. Develop one researchable qualitative question that could be used to refine or extend a concept of this theory. Identify which of the 3 qualitative methodologies studied in class (i.e. Ethnography, Grounded Theory, or Phenomenology) is most congruent with your question. Provide a 1-2 sentence rationale for how your question fits your chosen methodology.
c. Choose one of the research questions described in either #a or #b above, and develop a research design that you could use to address that question. Remember, the scope, significance, and background of smoking adolescence or problem in need of scientific investigation is assumed in this scenario; thus, you do not need to address these areas in your proposal. The proposal should include the type of study design chosen and sample selection. In addition:
a. for a quantitative study, describe measurement instruments (if available) or how the theory would provide direction for development of measurement strategies.
b. for a qualitative study, describe how your study would build or extend theory.
d. Provide rationale for your chosen study design and be sure your proposal includes all the necessary steps for sound research design.
e. Discuss whether one particular philosophical approach for examining research phenomena related to this priority area should be given precedence over others. Develop your argument in relation to nursing’s purpose as a discipline, and the purpose of science within nursing.
Topic: How do family members and/or friends support undergraduate students throughout their studies?

Topic: Reflecting on the Research project learning achieved.

Order Description

Instruction: write two pages reflecting on the outcomes on the research project class that we just completed. The outcome of the class are at the bottom and numbered and your writing need to answer how you have achieved these 5 outcomes. References need to be less than 5 years old.

For this discussion, you are asked to review your learning outcomes for this course and discuss how you met these outcomes. The intention here is to provide you an opportunity to “reflect” on the learning achieved during this term and how you successfully met these learning outcomes.

Here are the learning outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

1- Critically analyze current practice to formulate re searchable problems.

2- Evaluate research as the basis for decision-making to improve outcomes through translation into evidence-based practice.

3- Synthesize an understanding of the research process through development of a proposal to address a nursing problem or focus area identified in nursing practice.

4- Investigate ethical issues related to the conduct of scientific research, including informed consent, data management, data analysis, and protection of human subjects.

5- Explore national and international initiatives and research priorities.

Film Review: Million Dollar Baby

Much like one would see on Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes, each review must be accompanied by a reviewer rating, which will be out of 5 stars (half-stars are okay).
An essential feature of a good film review is the reviewer\’s ability to write concisely so that a comprehensive evaluation of the movie can be obtained from a brief reading. So, do not write more, write more conciselyfind creative ways to communicate your critical evaluation of the film in a short essay.
The point of a well-written film review is not to summarize the content of the movie, but to situate the historical merit of the film and to evaluate critically the filmmakers purpose, use of aesthetics, and methods of storytelling. Further, the review should offer a comparison of how these are used in this film with how they have been used in similarly-themed films.
seek to provide a commentary of the filmmakers ability to offer an important representation of a specific issue (race, gender, nationalism, etc.) and then compare that with one or more comparative film in the topical area (listed on the course site). To do this, the author should consider both 1) the context that is being represented within the film (the time period, the politics and social relations of that time, etc.) and 2) the context in which the film was produced (what does the film tell us about the social moment in which the film became popular?).
the bulk of one\’s review essay will be an evaluation of how convincing was the filmmakers representation of his/her subject, and a commentary on the films contribution to a broader understanding of important issues in American/Western society.
