Project description
WBS is a pension fund that is managed professionally by an expert fund manager who investe in a range of investiments. You are a fund manager looking to buy into mutual funds and exchange traded funds (ETF\’s) on half of the pension fund
To facilitate the decision making you will be analysing the performance of mutual funds in the last three years. You need to choose three mutual funds and three ETF\’s based on their performance. (Data to be downloaded from bloomberg)
a) Prepare a report setting out:
The rational of choosing the mutual funds and ETF\’s
Set out objectives – growth or income, combination of both and/or any other relevant objectives (Investment Policy Statement)
Constraints for the investment manager
b) Use fundamental analysis (the top-down approach) to select and analyse the funds world-ride. And provide and analysis of the economy and various markets (equities and bond) and give reasons as to whether or not it is favourable to invest taking into account the macroeconomic and chosen market conditions. (Take global events into account and explain how they affect the market. Brexit and the USA elections for example
c)Analyse the performance of the funds, compute the risk adjusted measure (sharpe ratio)
adjust the returns from Bloomberg for expensas (returns-expenses)
Sharpe ratio= (TRp-RF)/SDp
Calculate the portfolio sharpe ratio, the market sharpe ratio and the benchmark sharpe ratio
d)Compare and contraste your results (from part c) on the performance of ETF\’s and Mutual Funds. Comment on the findings and justify your answers
e)In the concluding portion of the report, students are required to summarize the purpose and findings. Students may provide a discussion of the major points and drawbacks, and a forecast of how the funds would perform with possible assumptions if required. (Summary of findings, limitations and recommendations and prediction of future performance of the funds).
The assignment should be produced in microsoft word and excel
Reading Assignment
Read: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood: Principles of Empathic
Communication (p. 235 -260)
During your reading, additional time should be spent on gaining an understanding of the
following terms: empathic listening, character, communication, 4 autobiographical
responses (evaluate, probe, advise, and interpret), understanding, perception, ethos,
pathos and logos.
Based on your readings and the video lectures, develop a reflection paper of
approximately 500 words, examining the communication skills you possess and those
possessed by your managerial team. Do you and they practice empathic listening, or do
you merely wait and think about what your going to say next. In developing this paper,
demonstrate your knowledge of the following terms: diagnose before you prescribe,
listening autobiographically, empathic listening and how this can change the transactional
into the transformational.
Personal Reflection Papers: The personal reflection papers provide an opportunity
for students to offer their own assessments of the problems posed in the unit. In units
5,6,7 and 8 students will complete their assignments from their own perspective and
personal experiences. Unlike the reaction paper, the reflection paper does not require
documentation from professional sources to substantiate positions. These personal reflection papers are required to be approximately 500 words.
In addition to the essay I need the writer on the 3rd page answer this discussion question.
Discussion Board
Diagnose before you Prescribe
Examine a conversation you had, from your personal or professional lives, where you
either placed your perceived goals or objectives on another person, or had them do the
same to you. Based upon your analysis of the readings describe how empathic listening
could have prevented this.
THE WRITER MUST INCORPORATE DETAILED EXAMPLES WITH REGARDS TO MY PROFESSION. I AM A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER PROFESSIONAL IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL IN AN INNCER CITY. WITH RESPECT TO BOTH THE ESSAY AND THE DISCUSSION THE WRITER MUST PROVIDE DETAILS OF HOW WHAT THE ASSIGNMENT IS ASKING RELATING TO MY ORGANIZATION. THE WRITER MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH WORKING AS A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER PARTICULARLY THE INNER CITY BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO BE FAMILIAR WITH THE CHALLENGES AND THE SYSTEM. PLEASE IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE PROFESSION AND CAN NOT INCORPORATE VIVID EXAMPLES PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER TO BID FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
I WILL UPLOAD ALL THE NECESSARY FILES SHORTLY.
You have recently been hired as a Business Communication Analyst. In this role, you are responsible for writing reports and proposals for a variety of audiences and purposes.
For this assignment, choose a scenario from the two scenarios that are described in theShort Report Scenarios[docx file, 13KB] document. Your job is to choose the most appropriate type of report (informational or analytical) and the best approach (direct or indirect) and compose a draft of approximately 1 to 1-1/2 pages (500-750 words). Use the internal proposal format in Chapter 10 of Bovee and Thill (2016, 7th ed.)for this assignment.
Class Textbook is:
Bovee, C. L. and Thill, J. V. (2016). Business Communication Essentials. Seventh Edition. Boston, MA: Pearson Education, Inc.
For this assignment you are going to practice some of the data analysis that astronomers have to do to look for evidence of extrasolar planets. You are given six example graphs of data that use three different methods: the astrometry method, the wobble or spectral method, and the transit method.
I have provided some notes in the reading section on each of these methods, using the same types of diagrams I provide for the assignment. You will also be able to find a lot online about these methods and the discoveries made with them.
There are two examples for each of three methods: Astrometry, Spectral, and Transit methods.
For each example you are to determine if there is sufficient evidence to claim that there is an extrasolar planet orbiting the star. You are going to do this six times, once for each of the graphs. They are not connected to each other.
Part 1 : For each graph answer (15% each) :
* Is there evidence of a possible extrasolar planet orbiting this star? (Yes or no)
* If there is not sufficient evidence to say there is an orbiting star, you should include a paragraph explaining why there is insufficient evidence of an extrasolar planet. There is no need to try to explain what could cause the patterns you do see in the data, but you have to explain why they are different than what you might see if there were a planet orbiting the star. (about 100 words)
* If there IS evidence of an extrasolar planet, you must include a paragraph about the evidence you used to come to that conclusion as well as the orbital period of the planet (how long it takes to make a complete orbit around the star). (about 100 words)
Part 2 (3 pts): Answer the following question (10%)
* Are any of these graphs likely from the same star? Explain your answer. Remember to think about the orbit and the way we view the star. (about 100 words)
Please submit in PDF or a current version of .docx (MS word) to the DROPBOX area under COURSE ACTIVITIES on the top menu bar. Our TA will grade them and should return them within 2 weeks. If you have trouble submitting, please email a copy of the assignment before the due date to get full credit.

Unit 9- Emotional Intelligence: Taking the Organizational Pulse
The assigned reading for this unit initiates with comments regarding the established mission statements of an unnamed organization. This spawned a thought of the multiple processes I had participated in while a member of the New York State Police. The intent associated with the creation of a mission was often well intended by the leadership. The problem arose with the leadership setting policy and designing the mission statement with little or no input from the rank and file. This type of scenario does not serve the true intent of an organizational mission statement, to represent the goals and values of the cause they serve. The importance of such a statement has sometimes been undersold and the leadership just goes through the motions. This can have dramatic effects on any type of organization, but it can be especially problematic in service organizations. You should take special note of the six primary ways to demoralize and not motivate the organizational personnel. The continuing thought in this course is that performance begins ultimately with each individual person. The performance of a particular organization can reap immediate results through better utilization of its human resource.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the unit, students will be able to:
Summarize in writing the term of mission statement, as described in the assigned reading for this unit.
Describe in writing the importance of leaders adopting a position of becoming mentors and coaches to facilitate performance improvement in an organization.
Contrast and compare the idea that like an individual, an organization has a need to explore its value system, level of competence, and level of awareness.
Reading Assignment
Read: Taking the Organizational Pulse (p. 82 – 296)
The Heart of Performance (p. 297 – 311)
During your reading, additional time should be spent on gaining an understanding of the following terms: mission statement, values, and organizational intelligence.
Unit 9- Reflection Paper
Prepare a reflection paper of approximately 500 words evaluating your organizations established mission statement. If your particular organization does not have a mission statement, you can discuss the positive and negative implications that result from not having a statement. The questions to be answered are rudimentary, does it represent the organization? Does it illuminate values as being an intricate part of the organization? How does it or does not truly represent the principles of its personnel? You should remain objective in completing this written assignment and utilize your personal experience along with the assigned readings in presenting your thought.
(The personal reflection papers provide an opportunity for students to offer their own assessments of the problems posed in the unit.
In addition to the reflection paper which must be 2 pages long, on the 3rd page these questions must be answered
Discussion Board Theme: You have read a varied compilation of concepts and ideas throughout this course. You are to choose two concepts that can be applied to either the advancement of your personal or professional performance improvement.
1. What two concepts or ideas can be construed as relevant to improving your personal performance?
2. Are these two concepts or ideas just as relevant in improving your professional performance skill?
I am a substitute teacher professional at an urban public elementary school. The writer must incorporate my profession into the reflection paper and into the discussion board response. The writer must be familiar with the challenges of a substitute teacher particularly within a public school in an urban community. The writer must incorporate DETAILED EXAMPLES of challenges as a substitute teacher to demonstrate understanding of terms and material.
The school where I substitute teach at mission statement goes as follows

Please I need help with answering these sections of the paper based on the project instructions given below:
1) Purpose statement
2) Critically analyze one project risk
3) explain fixed and variable costs as they pertain to this project
4) Executive Summary
Background of Project
The industry of medical devices involves a number of monitoring and reconstructive devices. Some of those devices include cardiac and diabetic care as well as hip and knee replacements. The owners of a medical device manufacturing firm called JointsOrthohave recently reviewed information about the expected growth of the aging population in the United States. Every day 10,000 Americans are turning age 65 every the population of older adults is expected to reach 89 million people by the year 2050. This figure is more than double the number of older adults in the United States in 2010.
Orthopedic medical devices are one of the fastest growing areas in medical device manufacturing. The owners of JointsOrtho or JO,manufacture full hip and knee replacements and would like to have your firm set up a financial plan for opening a new manufacturing plant that makes medical devices often used for Orthopedics. Specifically you will set up a plant that manufactures Full Hip Replacements in Delaware. Each Full Hip Replacement will be sold throughout the United States at a cost of $36,750 each, including shipping, etc.
Sales are expected to be between 1,000 and 1,200 hips per month. This figure is above what they are already producing in their first plant.
Depreciation for equipment should be set to 10 years.
Beyond the information provided you are unable to get any further guidance from the owners or the Financial Department at the other warehouse location. Remember, you are setting up a project proposal and sending your recommendations to the owners ofJointsOrtho. You will be presenting it to them in teleconference. You may wish to do the written portion of the assignment in a Word Document or PowerPoint. If you use PowerPoint be sure to use the notes section to write out detailed information. A reference sheet/page is required for either format you select. The Financial Statements can be included in the same document or submitted separately. Each Group Member must submit all documents to their Assignment Folder!
You will need to provide information to the owners of JointsOrtho that includes what it will cost to open a facility and hire workers and determine if the facility will breakeven within the first 12 months.
You will be hiring a total of 3 shift supervisors and a total of 45 employees (including shift supervisors) to do various manufacturing of the hips, clean up, shipping, etc. The 45 workers will be paid as follows:
15 of the workers will be paid at the rate of $18/hour for 40 hours per week (molding specialists)
10 of the workers will be paid at the rate of $16/hour for 40 hours per week (machining specialists)
5 of the workers will be paid at the rate of $13/hour for 40 hours per week (cleaning and maintenance)
10 of the workers will be paid at the rate of $17/hour for 40 hours per week (shipping and receiving)
3 shift supervisors will be paid at the rate of $20/hour for 40 hours per week
1 plant manager will be paid a salary of $6,000 per month
1 administrative/human resources person at the rate of $15/hour for 40 hours per week
Criteria for the project:
This project is meant to develop your critical thinking skills while allowing you to be creative. It is a group project so you will need to coordinate with various members of your group on how to progress with the project. Often students are reluctant to work in groups but once you are in the workplace, working in a group will not be an option. You will learn together and find out more about flexibility and sharing of responsibilities with the project.
This project includes both Financial Statements and Writing.
Use the grading rubric to help guide your work!
Discuss and critically analyze whether this is a good expansion. Make recommendations and submit an Executive Summary along with the full report.
Discuss and critically analyze if the need exists from your research to open an additional facility to produce knee replacements.
Critically evaluate the next steps the company should make with regards to expansion.
Should the company open the expansion?
Sections to include in your response:
Purpose Statement: A purpose statement helps tell your reader what to expect but it also keeps you on track. I compare the purpose statement to typing in the address on your GPS or writing down the address of your destination.
