Research and write an informational paper about the Edward Snowden situation as it relates to U.S. privacy law. Please make certain that
the following questions are addressed in your assignment.
1. What is the FISA court? Who sits on the court? How are judges chosen for the court?
2. What is the purpose of the court? What oversight exists for the court?
3. Have there been any recent (in the past year) challenges to the court’s authority? If so,
by whom?
4. What is the relationship between the FISA court and Edward Snowden?
5. What potential federal changes could be brought against Snowden for his release and
breach of “secret” information?
6. Is Snowden a defector, traitor, or a whistleblower? (Remember to support your answer

In her TED talk Leslie Chang, the author of Factory Girls, tries to sum up her understanding of Chinese female migrant workers’ experiences and their connection to “ourselves” (meaning generally the economically comfortable (Western) consumer) via globalization.  Listen to Chang’s TED talk and, using Factory Girls and other sources from this class, argue whether she is correct of incorrect in the analysis and sentiments she expresses in her TED talk.

Genetics and Public Health

Both CDC and IOM make it clear that integrating genetics into public health practice is a priority. Yet, according to Schneider in the Introduction to Public Health course text, there is controversy over whether significant resources should be spent on genomics for public health purposes versus spending dollars on modifying behaviors that are known to be related to adverse health outcomes.

In preparation for this Discussion, think about the specific ways in which genetic information is and can be used. This may include newborn screening, genetic testing, genetic counseling, workplace screening, tailored medicine, and more.
