alternative energy sources

Are alternative energy sources the answer to ending human dependence on oil?

This is a copy of what I have so far for my outline, which is due this week. I just need an 8 page essay written in APA format following these topics. Please feel free to add any information necessary to extend the paper to be at least 8 pages in length, double spaced in APA format.

I. Introduction
A. Thesis Statement:
Alternative energy sources are economically friendly with fewer cons than those of fossil fuels and they are vital to ending human’s dependence for those fossil fuels.

II. Biomass
A. What is Biomass
1. Biomass comes from plants and animals to produce liquid or solid mass energy sources.
2. The continued growth of biomass fuels could be the beginning of a more profitable industrial revolution leading us to a brighter future (Gehrke, R., 2009).
B. Concerns
1. Are we risking starvation for the use of biomass fuels?
a. We are not risking starvation because we are not wasting anything in the process of making biomass energy. Everything balances out and actually makes profitable sense as we are only using the oils to make biomass energy and oil is not a food.
b. As opposed to destroying the environment and habitats of animals and plants, there are actually plants and animals that are raised for the distinct purpose of producing biomass energies.
C. Positives
1. Biomass sources are produced domestically so we do not have to be as dependent on foreign fossil fuels.
2. Biomass sources burn clean and reduce pollution.
D. Biodiesel
1. Biodiesel is a source of biomass and it can reduce engine wear in a vehicle by nearly half of what fossil fuels can.
2. Biodiesel can also be used to heat your home and it is cleaner and safer for the environment.
E. What does all this tell us?
1. Biomass energy sources are a fantastic alternative to ending our dependence on fossil fuels. People are not aware that it is as easy as picking up the phone or using a search engine to order this type of energy for homes.
III. Wind Energy
A. What is Wind Energy?
1. Wind energy is a very cost-effective way to produce electricity. It is actually pretty self-explanatory; the wind is used to produce energy.
B. Concerns
1. Wind energy is not always available to everyone; there are limits as to what homes wind energy can be used for.
a. A home is required to have at least one acre of land in order to use a wind turbine to produce wind energy (Gehrke, R., 2009).
b. Using Wind energy can be expensive to a homeowner and it requires a lot of manufacturing when it comes to the wind turbine itself.
c. Due to tax increases there has been a slowed investment in wind farms (Turk, J., Bensel, T., 2011).
C. Positives
1. While the use of wind turbines can be expensive, wind energy displaces electricity that would otherwise be made by using natural gas or oil.
2. Wind energy can be used without the use of wind turbines. You can help the environment with stopping the use of your dryer and air drying your clothes with none other than the wind.
3. It is amazing to see the rise of wind farms that are competing with coal-fired plants.
D. What does all this tell us?
1. In time, I believe that wind energy has the potential to become more convenient and eventually replace unnecessary need for fossil fuels.

IV. Solar Energy
A. What is Solar Energy?
1. Solar energy is energy that comes from the sun.
2. Solar energy is a form of energy that has powered the earth since the beginning of time.
B. Solar-Thermal Systems
1. Solar-thermal systems obtain sunlight to produce heat and are used to provide hot water for homes and businesses (Turk, J., Bensel, T., 2011).
2. Solar-thermal systems create electricity without using solar cells.
C. Concerns
1. The pollution that fossil fuels produce may one day modify the suns energy that is released to the earth.
D. Positives
1. If we did not have solar energy we would not have access to any of the other renewable resources such as biomass and wind energy.
2. Using the sun for solar energy to produce heat to your home is as easy as letting it shine through your windows.
3. By collecting light energy from the sun you can heat water (Gehrke, R., 2009).
E. What does all this tell us?
1. Solar energy has been used since the beginning of time and has become more popular for centuries. There is no reason that solar energy should not help in reducing the need for oil.

V. Conclusion
A. Alternative energy sources that are safer for our environment are more than important to ending our constant need for fossil fuels.
B. The need for oil should have no problem becoming unnecessary with so many economically friendly options we have. The strength of the economy, our well-being and quality of life are all loosely linked to the health of our planet (Wallace, M., Adler, B., 2008).

annotated bibliography with a LR

So far, i have collected the references evaluate and analyze them to pick those which are suitable for my literature review,

i wrote the annotated bibliography for most of them (17 out of 23), what i want is:

1- write the annotated bibliography for the remaining (6 papers) like the first 17 papers in AP.doc in the attached folder.

2- write the literature review for the whole topic, it should be the annotated bibliography EXPANDED.

how to write LR (Literature Review):

first group the references with something in common in one group (there should be 4-5 groups)

E.x: group for paper which concentrate on the ways of collecting and cleaning data.

and group for papers discussing the algorithms of analyzing the data.

after that, these group should be the chapter names for the LR, (4-5 chapters), note that the papers which discuss the topic in general and dose not belong to any group should be discussed in the introduction part of the LR

in the below URL: the 23 references list, and AP.doc which needs to be completed (17 out of 23)

Prof notes on LR:

Literature Review:

A review of the literature is a classification and evaluation of what accredited scholars

and researchers have written on a topic,, organized according to a guiding concept such

as your research objective,, thesis,, or the problem//issue you wish to address.

What to do:

  • Recognize relevant information.
  • Integrate and evaluate them.

Goal:

Your reader wants to know:

  • What literature exists.
  • Your informed evaluation of the literature.

Methods:

  • Information seeking.
  • Critical appraisal.

THEN

  • organize information and relate it to the thesis or your research question.
  • synthesize your reading of texts into a summary.
  • identify controversy when it appears in the literature.
  • develop questions for further research.

OUTPUT

  • A description of what you have read.
  • A conceptually organized synthesis of the results of your search.

What to Scrutinize?

  • Has the author formulated a problem//issue?
  • Is the problem//issue ambiguous or clearly articulated? Is its significance (scope, severity, relevance) discussed?
  • What are the strengths and limitations of the way the author has formulated the problem or issue?
  • Could the problem have been approached more effectively from another perspective?
  • What is the author”s theoretical framework?
  • What is the relationship between the theoretical and research perspectives?

Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Management

Alternatively, in consultation with your tutor you can choose a different area to the ones listed. The report must include a critical evaluation of the extent to which current academic literature supports your choice of the elements you have incorporated in your business plan.

problems of the stock markets

write a background about the other problems of the stock markets that Evolutionary Competition has been used to solve it.

As a background I need to mention the other problems the market suffer from besides the prices
also talk about the genetic programming and the nero-genetic (ANN) as a popular method to solve the price prediction problem

The problem that the paper need to focus on is stock prices and how we can predict it’s rises and drops by the EC methods
Also I need to briefly mention the other problems that EC can solve within the market, EX: portfolio optimization, bankruptcy prediction, financial forecasting …etc as a background for the literature

In other word:
The market had alot of problems such as, price prediction, portfolio optimization…etc.
My project is about to build a system to predict the prices using one of the EC methods so in the literature I need to discuss all the previous price prediction systems under every discipline of the EC methods.

The Background may have this arrangement:

The problems of stock markets
genetic programming
nero-genetic (ANN)

discipline investigation interview research paper essay in accounting

Purpose: To investigate a discourse community* (e.g. profession) you hope to join and to learn about the kinds of texts (genres) that community uses. This assignment will enable you to identify some of those rules or patterns by interviewing a professional in your field of study and by doing outside research

Audience: Your instructor, your classmates, and other faculty members on the 100A portfolio committee.

*Discourse Community: Any group of people who form a community—a family, a neighborhood, colleagues, practitioners of a particular profession—and establish informal and formal rules regarding who gets to join their community and how spoken and written interactions (i.e. discourse) occur within the community. Anyone who wants to join that community has to learn its discourse rules and patterns.

Writing Steps

Step 1: Interview
For this assignment, you will interview a professional in your field of study to gain insight into your future discourse community. Try to select someone at a senior level, with at least five years of experience working in this field, who can provide you with a broad view of the types of work and opportunities that are available to you. Your professors in your field of study may be able to give you advice on finding a suitable interviewee. Unless you hope eventually to become a faculty member at a research university, you should not interview one of your professors. It is preferable to interview the subject in person.

The interview should cover 1) your subject’s background and career path; 2) your subject’s current role and responsibilities; and 3) your subject’s insight on the types of communication skills required for your field.

In preparation for the interview, you will work in class to develop a set of questions for your particular interviewee. You will also discuss various interviewing strategies. Before the interview, you will need to discuss with your interviewee the confidentiality of the interview. Because people sometimes share sensitive information in an interview, you need to assure them that the information will be confidential and that you will not use their real name or the name of the company.

Step 2: Outside Research
Find a minimum of 2 outside sources (articles, journals) that give you additional information about your future discourse community – for example, what types of work or jobs someone in that field would have, or what the requirements will be for those jobs in the future. You might also research additional genres of writing that might be used in your field.

Step 3: Prepare Report
Your Discipline Investigation will report the information you learned during your interview and outside research, providing an introduction and conclusion to share how your own expectations about the field may have changed or broadened in doing this assignment.

Suggested Organization

INTRODUCTION
Your introduction should include a brief overview of the discourse community you investigated for this assignment and provide a short background on why you chose your field of study and what your expectations were before you conducted the interview and outside research.

INTERVIEW REPORT
Background & Career Path
Introduce your interview subject, giving details of the subject’s background and education to show why the subject chose that profession and how he/she got started in the field. You will also need to give some explanation of the subject’s career path so far, highlighting particular positions or stepping stones to the current role. Possible topics to discuss in this section include:

• Why your subject was drawn to a particular career field
• What requirements or skills were needed before entering the field
• The expectations and surprises your subject had in entering that profession

Use outside sources (articles) to add additional or supporting information about the topics above.

Roles & Responsibilities
Provide an overview of your interview subject’s current role at his/her place of employment, explaining the responsibilities of that position and how it fits into the overall structure of the company or organization. Your subject should also give you a general sense of the types of jobs and career paths common in that field. Possible topics to discuss in this section include:

• The subject’s job responsibilities in his/her place of employment
• Where your subject’s job fits in terms of the overall structure of the profession
• Types of jobs people in this profession have
• The skills and qualifications your subject’s job requires
• The biggest challenges the subject faces in this job

Use outside sources (articles) to add additional or supporting information about the topics above.

Communication Skills
Explain the types of reading and writing typically required in your field of interest. Provide an overview of the communication skills that are most important in your field. For example, some occupations demand the ability to work collaboratively on reports, while others may require an ability to respond clearly and concisely to time-sensitive email inquiries. Possible topics include:

• The types of reading and writing required in your subject’s daily responsibilities
• The typical audience for written communication (co-workers, clients, general public, etc.)
• The communication skills your subject finds most important in his/her role

Use outside sources (articles) to add additional or supporting information about the topics above.

CONCLUSION
Share your thoughts on what most surprised or interested you about your interview and research. Did it change your expectations about your chosen field? For the remainder of your undergraduate studies, what further skills, knowledge, or experience (such as an internship) will you need to develop to help prepare you for the start of your career?
