Examination of Learning Theories in the Current Institutional and/or Classroom Practices.

Students will employ the ideas and theories introduced in ED 611(Theories of Teaching and Learning) to analyze a current institutional or classroom practice. The specific topic of the paper is up to the student, and the possibilities are many. Students may choose to analyze a school or a school system; a federal, state, or local educational policy; a particular school policy or practice; the environment or practices of a particular classroom; or even a specific lesson or activity.

For example, if your school has a strict policy around behavior and student conduct, you could examine the policy and explore the theoretical perspective best aligned with it describing how the policy came into being, how it is aligned (or not) with the theoretical perspective you’re writing about, the consequences of the policy, the effect of it… and so on. The goal is to think carefully about why we do the things we do in education and link them to major ideas from the field of educational psychology. Need another example? How about analyzing the workings of the No Child Left Behind act from the perspective of motivational theory, or classroom practices and relationships from a socio-cultural point of view, or of a particular lesson in light of what cognitive theory tells us about retention and transfer. There is lots of room to tackle something of personal interest, so do it!

Whatever the topic chosen, students will be expected to:

• provide an analysis and evaluation of it using one or more of the theoretical frames discussed in ED 611 (associationism, behaviorism, Deweyian theory, cognitive psychology, situative or social perspectives), ( I upload some PDF resources about education theories to you)

What theories manifest themselves in your selected practice or policy and what evidence do you have to support these beliefs?

• employ at least 3 scholarly sources (using APA format)-does not count in page requirements,
• craft a paper that is approximately 6 pages in length, double-spaced.

The description should lay out the features and goals of the practice being examined. The interpretation piece should apply your chosen theoretical framework(s) to that practice, describing how the practice fits with, or does not fit with, the theoretical ideas you are employing. The evaluation piece should state your conclusions about the practice you have analyzed: based on your application of your chosen theoretical framework to your chosen practice, is the practice sound? Or is it not? Back up your conclusions with references from course material in APA format.  Your essay should we well-written, organized, proofed, and fun for your instructor to read.

Review the PharmaCARE/CompCARE scenario ethics and corporate responsibility in the workplace and the world, to complete this assignment.

1. Research three to five (3-5) ethical issues relating to marketing and advertising, intellectual property, and regulation of product safety.
2. Argue for or against Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) marketing by drug companies.

9. Determine whether or not PharmaCARE lives up to its brand. Support the response.
10. Recommend at least three (3) changes PharmaCARE can make to be more ethical going forward.

Use the Internet to research criminal proceedings in one (1) of the six (6) model countries from the textbook. Imagine you are traveling abroad in your chosen country when you witness a local national committing a violent assault. The criminal is arrested and charged by the police.

Upon returning to the United States, a professor in one of your criminal justice classes asks you to complete a written report on your experience.

CHAPTER 4
1. See the Apostle’s Creed or the Nicene Creed in Appendix 1, on pages 536–537, toward the end of the Alban textbook. Analyze their individual statements. Then, compose a 150–250-word response in which you explain how the wording in these historic statements of Christian faith implies God’s interest in communicating (connecting or reconnecting) with humans.

CHAPTER 5
1. Read Donelson R. Forsyth’s “Group Dynamics Overview” document (see the Module/Week 5 Reading & Study folder). Then, list and briefly explain the 5 reasons why he says groups matter. Next, using relevant ideas from chapters 4 and 5 of the Alban textbook, write a 150–250-word essay in which you support the idea that groups also matter because God values them. Strengthen your case by citing Bible passages that indicate God values groups in general or specific types of groups. You can find this type of information in the textbook’s list of things God values according to Scripture (see pages 72–76).
2. Read one of the chapters in pages 84–259 of the Alban textbook (the section titled “Redemptive Communicators: Profiles from across the Job Fields”). Then, using the list of things God values (see pages 72–76), write a 150-250 word analysis in which you explain, in a story-by-story sequence, how each person profiled in that chapter uses or used his or her vocation in a platform for interacting with other people in a way that promotes something God values as an expression of apparently authentic love for Him. Executive Summary

The Executive Summary is written last but appears first. This summary addresses the key
focal points only. It is a concise review of the whole plan. This summary is very important so
prepare it with care! This should be no more than 2 pages.

2. Introduction/Background

This section includes the organization’s mission statement (purpose of the business) and gives
a general overview of the company. The overview can include information about top-line
sales, product categories, current marketing, geographic markets, and any other basic
background information to help someone become familiar with the company. This normally is
between 3-4 pages.

Assume the role of a chief researcher for the state Department of Education who is examining two groups with similar educational deficiencies. One group involved in the study is a rural, ethnically-defined, aboriginal group with a high rate of health issues including diabetes, vision impairment, and heart disease. The other group is also a rural group living on family-owned farms (as opposed to corporate farms) that are in severe decline as a result of years of decreasing rainfall and drought. Both groups exhibit achievement test scores that are more than one standard deviation below the mean at all grade levels, and excessive high school drop-out rates.
Write a paper of 1,250-1,500 words in which you consider the merits of applying ethnography, phenomenology, grounded theory, narrative inquiry, and case study to the scenario above. Include the following in your paper:

As this course wraps up, take some time to reflect on what you have learned about culturally competent counseling and social justice advocacy. Referencing both the Multicultural Counseling and Advocacy Competencies introduced in Unit 1, the study activities in this unit, and the readings throughout the course:
• Articulate your role as a counselor in developing cultural self-awareness and discuss your gains in self-awareness as a result of this course. Include one example of a gain in your self-awareness at each of the levels of the tripartite model of personal identity: individual, group and universal.
• Articulate your role as a counselor in becoming familiar with the characteristics and concerns of diverse populations and integrating culturally supported behaviors that promote optimal wellness and growth of the human spirit, mind, and body, and provide an example of a culturally supported behavior you would integrate into your counseling practice.
• Articulate your role in promoting cultural social justice, advocacy, and conflict resolution, and provide an example of advocacy for a client in your specialization area at the individual, community, and national level.
