Review the case study below. Choose 1 of the 8 core leadership practices discussed in Doane and Varcoe (2015, Chapter 11) and explain with examples how this practice may apply to this case.

I was triaging a woman who had been bit by a dog in her right hand. The woman came alone with no family member. She has visible puncture wounds in her hand, along with swelling and redness. She told me that her finger were completely numb and that her hand was in pain. I decided that because of the hand numbness, possible tendon damage, the amount of pain she was in, and the wounds on her hand , this patient should be made a level 3 and stay in the emergency room instead of urgent care area. I called over the radio for a level 3 dog bite and was assigned a room. The nurse that was going to receive this woman as her patient marched into my triage room picked up this woman hand and said to me “why cant she go to urgent care”? I politely excused myself and walked to the nurses’ station with the nurse and told her why she was staying in the emergency room. The nurse looked at me and said “you know she is just a drug seeker, she comes here all the time”. There was nothing I could say to the nurse, she was convinced that the woman was faking her pain. I was left with a sobbing patient because the nurse caused more pain by picking up her hand and a co-worker who was angry that she was “given” a so called “drug seeker”

Develop an information system based on a computer sales and maintenance store of your choice.

As the production supervisor for Sweeny Electronics, Nakeisha Joseph was generally well regarded by most of her subordinates. Nakeisha was an easygoing individual who tried to help her employees in any way she could. If a worker needed a small loan until payday, she would dig into her pocket with no questions asked. Should an employee need some time off to attend to a personal problem, Nakeisha would not dock the individual’s pay; rather, she would take up the slack herself until the worker returned.
Everything had been going smoothly, at least until the last performance appraisal period. One of Nakeisha’s workers, Bill Overstreet, had been experiencing a large number of personal problems for the past year. Bill’s wife had been sick much of the time, and her medical expenses were high. Bill’s son had a speech impediment, and the doctors had recommended a special clinic. Bill, who had already borrowed the limit the bank would loan, had become upset and despondent over his circumstances.
When it was time for Bill’s annual performance appraisal, Nakeisha decided she was going to do as much as possible to help him. Although Bill could not be considered more than an average worker, Nakeisha rated him outstanding in virtually every category. Because the firm’s compensation system was heavily tied to performance appraisal, Bill would be eligible for a merit increase of 10 percent in addition to a regular cost-of-living raise. Nakeisha explained to Bill why she was giving him such high ratings, and Bill acknowledged that his performance had really been no better than average. Bill was very grateful and expressed this to Nakeisha. As Bill left the office, he was excitedly looking forward to telling his work buddies about what a wonderful boss he had. Seeing Bill smile as he left gave Nakeisha a warm feeling.

1) From Sweeny Electronics’ standpoint, what difficulties might Nakeisha’s performance appraisal practices create?

2) What can Nakeisha do now to diminish the negative impact of her evaluation of Bill?

Develop an information system based on a computer sales and maintenance store of your choice.

This is an individual coursework. You are required to develop an information system based on a computer sales and maintenance store of your choice. The store has a number of branches and there are a number of personnel working in each branch. Personnel can be reassigned to other branches to work. The store’s services include computer sales, repair computer parts and installing and upgrading software and hardware.

There are multiple owners of the store and they wish to have an information system that gives them up to date information about the current status of the business. The owners are often in different locations and therefore the system needs to be available from multiple remote locations. Furthermore, the owners have very little technical skill and therefore, the information presented to the owners must be in visual form (e.g. a dashboard).

The store would like to use the system for analysing sales, cost and customer trends. They expect it to be constructed in a way such that a range of queries are available to them. The owner’s most urgent need is to have information concerning the volume of sales of different products and services, the volume of sales in each location, and the performance of their sales personnel.
You may assume the following for simplification purposes:
• There are only 6 months of trading data available.
• The store has 8 personnel.
• The store has 3 branches in the city.
• The store provides only 12 different products and services.

Requirements:

1. You must store the data in a relational format using MySQL. You can assume that this database is automatically updated when a sales event occurs. Therefore, you only need to populate the database with static data.
2. Populate the database with a small amount of data. The data should be meaningful but does not need to be extensive. The following sites may be useful for quickly generating data:D

Identifying Evidence-Based Design Case Studies

The purpose of the INDS 740: Contemporary Issues in Interior Design course is
• to promote design responsibility by examining a variety of issues that currently
challenges the design professions in general and interior design practice and
education specifically;
• to provide opportunities for students to develop and express individual thoughts and
opinions about contemporary issues interior designers face; and
• to prepare students for being well informed and active members of the design
community.
In an effort to fulfill these goals, it is important to a) understand evidence-based design and
b) understand the critical role of this approach in contemporary design.
Students are asked to develop an analytical essay related to evidence-based design within
one design placetype. Placetypes may include, but are not limited to hospitality, education,
childcare, healthcare, universal design, retail, workplace, or industrial settings. If evidencebased
design focused on sustainability is the desired focus, case studies should be
representative of the same placetype , i.e. sustainable schools.
The analytical essay (8-12 pages including images) should feature the following:
1. A paragraph defining evidence-based design, including a definition of evidencebased
design derived from the literature.
2. Two to three paragraphs citing how evidence-based design has been used to
improve user outcomes within the placetype selected.
3. A critical analysis of two case studies presenting evidence-based design approaches
using annotated visuals, text, diagrams, charts and other documentation.
4. Summary concluding paragraphs comparing and contrasting the evidence-based
design approaches used in the two case studies.
5. APA style in-text and end-text citations providing references for all information not
personally generated, including paraphrased text, images and visuals.
Points will be granted for thoroughness, organization, clarity, extensiveness, personal insight,
justification, graphic formatting, demonstration of understanding of evidence-based design
and fulfillment of assignment requirements.
For all assignments, proper English grammar and spelling are expected. Please be sure to
proofread your submissions before submitting your assignment. Citations of direct quotes and
any borrowed information are to be documented with proper APA 6th Edition style.
