Annotated Bibliography
Section #1 – Common Knowledge
“Climate Change” Wikipedia.Wikimedia Foundation, 20 Mar. 2015. Web. 25 Mar. 2015.
My topic will be about climate change, and this reading seemed to be good choice for the common knowledge section. It includes helpful information about climate change. The reading was clearly indicated the effect of the climate change. Today, it was not only the hotter temperature, the increase on the water levels and other issue regarding weather that could be included as result of the climate change. The reading would have been a great contribution of informative reading materials that would make people realize that the issue of climate change should be taken seriously by this time.
The below information offers by the website from external article called “What’s in a Name?” Global Warming vs. Climate Change” on <http://www.nasa.gov>
Useable Information
“The term sometimes is used to refer specifically to climate change caused by human activity, as opposed to changes in climate that may have resulted as part of Earth’s natural processes. In this sense, especially in the context of environmental policy, the term climate change has become synonymous with anthropogenic global warming. Within scientific journals, global warming refers to surface temperature increases while climate change includes global warming and everything else that increasing greenhouse gas levels will affect.”
“Factors that can shape climate are called climate forcing or forcing mechanisms. These include processes such as variations in solar radiation, variations in the Earth’s orbit, variations in the albedo or reflectivity of the continents and oceans, mountain-building and continental drift and changes in greenhouse gas concentrations. There are a variety of climate change feedbacks that can either amplify or diminish the initial forcing. Some parts of the climate system, such as the oceans and ice caps, respond more slowly in reaction to climate forcing, while others respond more quickly. There are also key threshold factors which when exceeded can produce rapid change.”

Ki-moon, Ban. “Facing a changing world: women, population and climate , State of the World’s Population 2009”, UNFPA, 18 Nov. 2009, web 7 Apr. 2015.

Usable Information
“Women—particularly those in poor countries—will be affected differently than men. They are among the most vulnerable to climate change, partly because in many countries they make up the larger share of the agricultural work force and partly because they tend to have access to fewer income-earning opportunities.”
“Women manage households and care for family members, which often limits their mobility and increases their vulnerability to sudden weather-related natural disasters. Drought and erratic rainfall force women to work harder to secure food, water and energy for their homes.”
“ Girls drop out of school to help their mothers with these tasks. This cycle of deprivation, poverty and inequality undermines the social capital needed to deal effectively with climate change.”
Section #3 – Logos Sources
Gordon M., and Davenport C. “Kerry Implores Indonesia on Climate Change Paril.”
New York Time,16 Feb 2014. Web. 28 March 2015.
The article was more of an eye opener. The writers of this article were not sugar coating or being bias on one part of the issue. The article was well crafted and it doesn’t just focus on the effects of the climate change but as well as to the causes of it .The writer presented to the readers that in some point economics could have been considered one of the basic and main reason of the exploding issue about climate change.

“Warmer and more acidic seawater could reduce Indonesian fish catches by 40 percent, while a three-foot rise in the sea level would be enough to put half of Jakarta under water.”
“World Bank report warning of $1 trillion a year in flood-related economic losses by 2050 unless major efforts are made to improve Asian ports.”

“Annually, more than 60 percent of global industrial carbon dioxide emissions originate in industrialized countries, where only about 20 percent of the world’s population resides.”
“industrialized countries account for roughly 80% of the carbon dioxide buildup in the atmosphere to date. Since 1950, the U.S. has emitted a cumulative total of roughly 50.7 billion tons of carbon, while China (4.6 times more populous) and India (3.5 times more populous) have emitted only 15.7 and 4.2 billion tons respectively (although their numbers will rise).”

Discussions are intended to promote student participation in the class and are graded on the fact that you express ideas and critical thinking.Explain.

irst, tell your classmates about your favorite topic in chapter 2 of the textbook. Write 2-3 paragraphs and tell us what the topic was, why it was interesting to you and how you think it applies or has been applied in either businesses you have dealt with or have been involved with either as a customer or an employee.

After you have submitted your post, reply to at least two other classmates posts. Show some critical thinking in both your original post and in your replies. A simple “I agree,” or “Yes, I’ve experienced that too,” is not good enough. You are welcome to express contrasting views with one another, but please remember the rules of Netiquette in all posts.

Remember to write 2-3 paragraphs, then respond to 2 classmates.
Type your answers into the reply box below and click the “Post Reply” button.
You must create your own post before you can see posts from other students.
This assignment is worth 45 points, 35 points for your original post and 5 points for each of the next two responses to another classmate. More than two replies are always welcome.
Discussions are intended to promote student participation in the class and are graded on the fact that you express ideas and critical thinking, not just yes or no, or I agree or disagree with short answers. Please tell us why you think a particular way.
With all discussions, you are required to post a minimum number of replies at least two hours before the closing of the discussion to give other students a time to respond.
See the rubric for how the assignment is graded.
Please remember the rules of Netiquette in all posts.

Why is the claim that “female police officers would be ‘naturally’ better suited to deal with violence against women than their male counterparts, and that the general male-dominated environment of the regular police station was not conducive to women’s reports of violence against themselves” (p. 335) considered an essentialist assumption by Ostermann?

Why does she suggest that the DDM officers not do facework with the women they interview? Does Ostermann argue that the DDM officers generally are not able to do facework? Do they do solidarity with her? Why do they not ‘do solidarity’ or facework with the women they interview?
11. Why is the idea of ‘community of practice’ important for this study?
