Discuss the differences between a boulder and an outcrop

Paper details:
Answer the questions and be as detailed as possible.
1) What is the difference between a boulder and an outcrop?
2) What does “difference of erosion” mean?
3) Given the length of the folding layer of an area is 10 footlengths, the straight-line distance is 5 footlengths, the approximate shortening percent of deformation (folding) is 50. What does this tell us?
4) What is the significance between the granite, pegmatite, and the underlying schist?
5) There are grooves parallel to the layers and grooves perpendicular to bedding. What processes caused both sets of grooves? a. Could the perpendicular grooves be due to differential erosion of the layering in the rock? b. Did the grooves form before or after the folding of the rock layering?
6) What types of rock are Manhattan Schist, Hartland schist, and Umpire Rock? Also, how did they get there?
7) Given the direction from which the glaciers may have come to an area is NW, SE or SE, NW. Explain this feature.

Discuss the fundamental step in the scale construction process

Integration Assignment, you will develop a structured measure of personality, collect data on the measure, and examine its psychometric properties. You will use one of the deductive approaches to structured test construction (either the logical-content or theoretical strategies) described in Chapter 13 of your text. Before you begin this assignment, be sure to review information on writing and evaluating items in Chapter 6.
Due Date: Sunday of Week 7
Submission: Submit as an RTF or Word attachment via the Dropbox
Grading Criteria: Refer to the grading rubric

Examples: • Student Example #1
• Student Example #2
These examples may or may not have all the necessary components, as such they are simply provided to give you an idea of how to approach this project. When completing your own project, be sure to review the grading rubric and the directions below. You are responsible for ensuring that you have met all the relevant guidelines.
Directions:
Conceptualizing the Personality Scale
1. Select a personality construct, trait, or characteristic your scale will attempt to measure.
2. Carefully review all material (e.g., book chapters, journal articles, etc.) on the personality construct, trait, or characteristic of interest. Your task will be to write a set of items that reflects the construct domain, so try to identify as many aspects or dimensions of the construct as you can. (Note: This is a fundamental step in the scale construction process and is necessary to provide evidence of the validity of your scale.)
3. Consider how you will test the reliability and validity of your scale after you have constructed it. For example, you might want to provide construct-related evidence for the validity of your scale. How might you do this?

Do nonhuman primates such as chimpanzees and gorillas are capable of language and, if so, to what extent they are

One major debate among primatologists and linguists alike is whether nonhuman primates such as chimpanzees and gorillas are capable of language and, if so, to what extent they are. In this assignment, you are asked to review Chapter 1 of the Rowe-Levine text, especially the attributes of nonhuman communication versus human language (pp. 10-12) accounts of possible language in the behavior of Washoe (a chimp), Kanzi (a bonobo), and Koko (a gorilla) (pp 12-14); and skepticism over ape language studies (pp. 15-20).

You are then asked to view a short take from Among the Wild Chimpanzees and the video A Conversation with Koko in its entirety. I suggest that you take notes while viewing both films. You may do this assignment singly or in groups of up to three.

Finally, please answer the following questions based on the lecture, the reading and the video. Value: 10 points each question; total, 100 points.Due date: final day of class. :

What is the difference between language and speech and between language and sign languages.
Compare the brain structure of humans with those of nonhuman primates such as chimps. (pp. 19-21 of text. )
From viewing the chimps in the wild (Among the Wild Chimpanzees), can they be said to have a language? Include chimp displays in dominance behavior, behavior in warfare, and grooming and begging behavior.
From viewing Koko alone, does Koko have a language? How about Michael? Give examples from both cases.
Describe Koko’s use of sign language. Include productivity in your discussion; what new signs does she create?
Has Francine (Penny) Patterson made the case that gorillas are capable of language? Please explain your answer.
Does that mean that gorillas also have a culture? Explain, using examples.
Why didn’t Koko mate with Michael? Does that mean that the incest tabu applies to gorillas? Why didn’t she mate with Ndume? Why would this explanation differ from her failure to mate with Michael?
Do gorillas use sign language in the wild. Site evidence from the film.
Finally, in light of the discussion on pp. 13-22 of Concise Introduction to Linguistics, evaluate the skepticism over ape language studies. Include in your evaluation the Clever Hans Effect and definitions of Faculty of Language in the Broad Sense and in the Narrow Sense.

Identify a relevant multi-criterion ethical or business environmental problem that is faced by a localized industry, governmental sector and develop a prototype Analytical Hierarchy Process model.

A2 – Project Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)

Course Overview
As an introduction to the decision sciences, this course familiarizes students to some of the relevant methodologies utilized in a multi-criteria decision making environment, including:
Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP): This module presupposes foundations in matrix algebra to incorporate subjective evaluation into the multi-criterion decision-making process, and includes the traditional components of setting criterion and establishing priorities, eliciting behavioral inputs and comparisons, checking for consistencies, and deriving overall priority ranks. Student teams will consider a problem related to government, industry, healthcare, or another practical and localized domain, administer the problem as a collaborative exercise within the class, and derive the solution that best represents the class participant inputs. Microsoft Excel will be incorporated as a decision support tool for analysis. A short written report and an oral report are required from each student team, who will also compare class outcomes with industry practice.

A2. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) Team Project: Each student team must identify a relevant multi-criterion ethical or business environmental problem that is faced by a localized industry, governmental sector and develop a prototype AHP model. The subjective inputs of the class must be elicited (discussed in class) as a required component of the project. Hence classroom discussion and interaction is critical. Students should consider how multiple cultures across the globe might choose alternative criteria and their priorities, and understand how this diversity impacts on a firm’s ability to make decisions effectively. Students must demonstrate the ability to use AHP to determine a solution to the problem that best represents the class inputs. A short written report is to be submitted near the end of the term that discusses the model and the

Use of multiple alternative energy technologies

M PAPER:
Each student will be required to prepare a term paper that analyzes the use of multiple alternative energy technologies that includes most of the technology covered in the course, examples are as follows: Wind Energy, Photovoltaic, Solar Thermal, Wave Energy (shore, off-shore, etc.), Tidal Energy, Geo Thermal, etc. Using the NYISO data, write an analysis for a plan that would implement the aforementioned technologies to offset the utility grid fossil fuel burning power plants in the next 25 years. Do the same for the next 50 years. This analysis should take into account the yearly energy c

OTHER: my teacher told me this: I’d still like to be seeing concrete, exact, experiences that you’ve had in your group that support your claims. You’ve mentioned the book, but the concepts you’ve chosen from the book have not been explored in depth. Grab a quote from the book to support your ideas!

Teenage years are a real experience in the life cycle

Life Planning
Introduction
Teenage years are a real experience in the life cycle of an individual. The energy is much at this level of development, as this is the period of adolescence. At this stage, one may feel as if there is no need to attend school to pursue education along one’s career interests, but this is usually not a good idea. Attending school is important especially at this level of teenage years. Proper planning of a teenager’s school life is thus an important consideration that may help prevent any possible chance of being lost at this youthful stage.
Life Decisions
It should have been better that one concentrates hard in school, get a good grade only to pursue an excellent course later in life according to the area of specialization. Failure of which one ends up becoming a liability to the society. In this scenario, problems of alcoholism arise since one is not well suited to put up with the pressure of life
Planning is another significant development. When proper planning prevails, there would be no problems of unwanted pregnancies. Youths need to plan in advance to avoid pregnancies, since at their age, they are usually lacking employment opportunities that can help them manage parenting responsibly. Through a proper arrangement that guarantees normal lifestyle for the youths, one can handle unexpected emergencies such as sickness effectively.
Conclusion
People do save money for use in the event of emergency sickness or situations. Risks such as illness require a proper mitigation plan . By taking life insurance cover or exercising a sound investment habit, one can manage to overcome them. Improper planning is the main reason for stress related illnesses and sometimes this could lead to death. My views are that no matter what faces one at any given age, there is an inherent need for planning and consultation. Through schooling, most people can learn about planning at any early stage of life. Experience is the best teacher.

Boy Scouts of America

Boy Scouts of America
Boy Scouts of America is a case law on the constitutionality of civil liberties and freedom of private organizations. Restrictions on individual interests happen when the entire group is affected by a single person’s viewpoints on matters that are either of the public or private interest. The message conveyed by the scout movement reads on the premise of individuals’ expressive view or ideas. Expressed views and ideas extend to any allowance on the practice of the doctrine of homosexuality. Acts of the gay ship are beyond the actual intent of the group.
It is imperative to note with clarity that economic, political and social matters have the authority to impose individual views as stipulated in the first amendment when it comes to the right of engaging with others. The boy scouts mission is instilling values beneficial to the young people. This task is accomplished when the adult group tries to associate themselves with the young to impart values taught, and other constructive activities born out of this socialization. The issue of banning boys from the scout movement on the basis of sexual orientation is against the founding standards and should halt.
Boy scouts education of issues of homosexuality being right or wrong need not interfere with the teachings from the state of New Jersey. In addition, organizations cannot disapprove members on the basis of their individuality whether personal or public. In other words, the law may promote any element or approval of a message, and this does not mean rights to interfere with any given speech for no good reason. Civil rights call for equal opportunity towards employment means accommodations or owning of property irrespective of race, color, sexual orientation or gender.
