Discussion: Areas of Interest and Practical Applications in Cognitive Psychology
Language is one of the areas in cognitive psychology which can be explored in Research. Many developments in this area focus on four areas that offers room for further studies, and which can be applied in the field of education.
The first concern that generates inquiry seeks to find out the system of knowledge that is ingrained in the mind of the individual, who can speak and understand a specific language. This is usually covered in theory, which relates to the topic used in any language, and is termed as the grammar of language. Traditionally, this centered on the individual mastery of grammar, which left many gaps in such studies, and did not constitute generative grammar, that seek to clarify what knowledge is applicable for the intelligent reader to understand grammar (Aukrust, 2011).
