Demonstrate your understanding of the major laws that impact employment decisions made by federal government contractors/subcontractors.

You are an HR Manager for a large plastics company. One of your largest customers has just secured a major office furniture contract with the federal government. Your customer wants your company to become a subcontractor for the project, making all of the plastic parts required. There is uncertainty among your organization’s top officials about whether or not to become part of this project, even though it would be very lucrative. The disagreement centers around the preparation of an affirmative action plan and the goal achievement requirements imposed to correct underutilization. In this assignment you are asked to discuss additional EEO compliance requirements impacting a federal subcontractor. Also, be sure to discuss the important components of an affirmative action plan (expanding on the goal-setting process), and discuss how affirmative action goals should relate to an organization’s strategic human resources plan.
Before starting this assignment, be sure that you are familiar with the following laws and their amendments:Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs

Drug-Free Workplace Act

Executive Order 11246

Rehabilitation Act of 1973

Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act

Affirmative Action Plans

Executive Order 12989

Choose a North Carolina historical site (state or federal site, museum, interpretive center, exhibit, etc.) to visit and relate its significance to NC history.

The paper details from the course syllabus are below. The historical site that I chose was Fort Fisher ( https://www.nchistoricsites.org/fisher/fisher.htm ). The syllabus details that I visit the site, but it is not possible as I am working out of state. This is what the instructor told me – “You can choose a site that has a web presence. That way instead of critiquing the site itself, you can critique the website.”

Within the text of your paper you MUST use parenthetical reference (MLA) if you are not a history major.

Write about the plight of animals in Disgrace. In what ways are they symbolic? Why does Coetzee dedicate so much time to them?

Choose ONE of the following essay topics and write a 4 – 6 page essay (typed, double spaced, 12 point font) on it. In addition, for Essay 3, you must read at least ONE article from the library database/approved sites that is relevant to your topic. You can choose to read an article from a published book on the novel Disgrace that is relevant to your paper.
1. Does David Lurie change in the novel Disgrace? Or, does he essentially remain the same man at the end of the novel as he is at the start of the novel?

2. Analyze Lucy’s actions following Chapter 11 of Disgrace. Why do you think that she behaves the way she does? Do you agree with her choices? Why/ why not?

Gantt charts can of course be used as a means to measure performance. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using Gantt charts as a means of measuring performance?

The four components of any control model are discussed in Section 13.1. Apply these four components for a simple project such as paving a driveway.

Review “Asthma” in Chapter 26 of the Huether and McCance text. Identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Consider how these disorders are similar and different.

Complications of asthma can be sudden. Consider the case of Bradley Wilson, a young boy who had several medical conditions. He appeared in good health when he went to school, returned home, and ate dinner. However, when he later went outside to play, he came back inside wheezing. An ambulance took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead (Briscoe, 2012). In another case, 10-year-old Dynasty Reese, who had mild asthma, woke up in the middle of the night and ran to her grandfather’s bedroom to tell him she couldn’t breathe. By the time paramedics arrived, she had passed out and was pronounced dead at the hospital (Glissman, 2012). These situations continue to outline the importance of recognizing symptoms of asthma and providing immediate treatment, as well as distinguishing minor symptoms from serious, life-threatening symptoms. Since these symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger, as an advanced practice nurse, you must be able to help patients identify their triggers and recommend appropriate treatment options. For this reason, you need to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.
To prepare:
Review “Asthma” in Chapter 26 of the Huether and McCance text. Identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Consider how these disorders are similar and different.
Select a patient factor different from the one you selected in this week’s Discussion: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Think about how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of both disorders. Reflect on how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment of these disorders for a patient based on the factor you selected.
Review the “Mind maps—Dementia, Endocarditis, and Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)” media in the Week 2 Learning Resources. Use the examples in the media as a guide to construct two mind maps—one for chronic asthma and one for acute asthma exacerbation. Consider the epidemiology and clinical presentation of both chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.
To complete:
Write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:
Describe the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Be sure to explain the changes in the arterial blood gas patterns during an exacerbation.
Explain how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of both disorders. Describe how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment for a patient based on the factor you selected.
Construct two mind maps—one for chronic asthma and one for acute asthma exacerbation. Include the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation, as well as the diagnosis and treatment you explained in your paper.

Evaluate a given situation to determine how the provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 would apply.

Objective 310.1.5-02: Evaluate a given situation to determine how the provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 would apply.
Objective 310.1.5-11: Analyze a given situation to determine whether a violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 has occurred.

Undertake strategic planning for your own organisation or for an organisation you are familiar with in your country or region.

Your task is to undertake strategic planning for your own organisation or for an organisation you are familiar with in your country or region.

Locate the vision statement, mission statement, statement of values and formal objectives of your chosen organization. Not all organisations have a statement of values; if that is the case, you can do without the statement of values. Not all organisations have formal objectives; if that is the case, you will be required to develop some appropriate objectives as part of the assignment.

Write a report in which you:

Briefly describe the organisation and its industry.
Identify the vision statement, mission statement and statement of values; explain their appropriateness for the organisation; suggest potential improvements.
Identify objectives; analyse their appropriateness for the organisation; suggest potential improvements.
Undertake an internal analysis of the organisation and an analysis of its external environment, using appropriate strategic management tools.
Develop an appropriate strategy for the organisation. Make sure you explain why the strategy is relevant and how it relates to vision / mission / objectives. Clearly justify your argument.
You do not need to develop implementation processes. But you should mention the critical importance of implementation, execution and evaluation of the strategies you come up with for this assignment.
