How to plan the structure of your study

1. Library/literary-based.

You should start with an introductory section saying what you intend to do in the project and why. How does it fit into work which has been done already: how is it different, and how does it fill a gap in what has already been written (literature review)? Then describe how you carried it out, and why (methodology).

Read the case several times to gain a complete understanding of the facts and the current situation that Bob’s Super Market is facing. It is helpful to take notes as you go through the case to help tie together the facts and gain a better understanding of the interrelationships in the case.
Prepare a case analysis that describes the major business issues facing Bob’s Supermarket, and then develop a recommended course of action that will put Bob’s Supermarket in a better position to continue to grow profitably in the current general and competitive environment. Make sure that your analysis and recommendations are specific and supported the facts of the case. Be creative in when you look at the strategic options for Bob’s Supermarket. Recommending going out of business is not an option.
The paper should include:
1. An opening paragraph or two giving a brief history of the company and the background.
2. Situation Analysis-Identify the major issues facing the company by using some of the analysis tools from the course (General environmental analysis, Porter’s Five Forces competitive analysis, industry life cycle analysis, competitive analysis, value chain, and financial analysis). Use the tools that you deem appropriate to develop a clear picture of what is facing both the industry and Bob’s Market and why. This section should answer the question and summarize: What issues and problems is Bob’s Supermarket facing and why.
3. Strategic options -based on the issues facing Bob’s Supermarket, and using some of the other analysis tools from the course (Value Chain Analysis, SWOT’s Analysis, Resource Analysis, generic strategies-cost leadership, focus, differentiation, or a combination), identify the options that Bob’s has to compete in the market (identify several); discuss the pros and cons; and select one, stating your reasons.
4. Action Plan-identify the specific actions that Bob’s must take to implement the recommended strategy. Include all actions that are required for implementation as well as the costs and risks.
5. Summary of paper (one paragraph or two to summarize the key facts of the case and recommendations)
Since all the reference material is contained on the case, you will not be required to have a list of other references; so no reference paper or abstract is required. APA writing style format is to be used but only for formatting such as a title page, double spacing, and spacing of margins, etc.

Assignment 2: Telecommuting and the Mobile Worker

The number of American telecommuters is expected to increase by 29 million telecommuters or 43% of the workforce by 2016 as more work gets performed from remote locations. Mobile workers can work from wherever they are and use the IT / IS technology necessary to access co-workers, company or corporate infrastructure, intranets, and other information sources.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:
1. Describe the impact of telecommuting on energy conservation, IT operational costs, “green computing”, and shifts in telecommuters’ lifestyles (e.g., parents, disability, etc.).
2. Describe how the business infrastructure should be designed so that employees will be able to continue to perform business functions in the event of a disaster (i.e., storm, hurricane, or earthquake) that destroys or makes it impossible to access the buildings.
3. Determine four (4) advantages and four (4) disadvantages of telecommuting from an IT manager’s point of view. Elaborate on each advantage and disadvantage.
4. Examine the effect of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) to the IT infrastructure with regard to security, IT support, knowledge, and data management, green computing, and telecommuting.

A curriculum guide is a packet of practical ideas for teaching. It is written in a convenient format as practical teaching notes for use by either you or your colleagues.
