The care of the elderly person is dependent on astute assessment skills. Many assessment screening tools are available for use and the Hartford Institute of Geriatric Nursing has developed a website to bring many of these tools together into one location. In this one location you will find numerous assessment tools for use with the elderly. The assessment tools are 2 pages, easy to follow instruction sheets for many standardized assessment tools. Also included are written guides and videos for administering the screening assessments called “How to Try This®.” The resources are divided into three areas: General Assessment Series, Specialty Practice Series, and Dementia Series. By clicking on the category box, the individual tools can be accessed.

Write about Apple InC, and one publicly traded corporation within Apple. Research Apple on its own Website, the public filings on the Securities and Exchange Commission EDGAR database (http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml), in the University’s online databases, and any other sources you can find. The annual report will often provide insights that can help address some of these questions.
Write an eight to ten (8-10) page paper in which you:
Choose the two (2) segments of the general environment that would rank highest in their influence on the corporation you chose. Assess how these segments affect the corporation you chose and the industry in which it operates.
Considering the five (5) forces of competition, choose the two (2) that you estimate are the most significant for the corporation you chose. Evaluate how well the company has addressed these two (2) forces in the recent past.

With the same two (2) forces in mind, predict what the company might do to improve its ability to address these forces in the near future.

Assess the external threats affecting this corporation and the opportunities available to the corporation. Give your opinions on how the corporation should deal with the most serious threat and the greatest opportunity. Justify your answer.

Give your opinion on the corporation’s greatest strengths and most significant weaknesses. Choose the strategy or tactic the corporation should select to take maximum advantage of its strengths, and the strategy or tactic the corporation should select to fix its most significant weakness. Justify your choices.
Determine the company’s resources, capabilities, and core competencies.
Analyze the company’s value chain to determine where they can create value using the resources, capabilities, and core competencies discussed above.

International law is better at protecting the rights and interests of States, than the rights and interest of individual human beings.’ Discuss.

International law is better at protecting the rights and interests of States, than the rights and interest of individual human beings.’ Discuss.
THESIS;
International law was created by, between, and for states (). In order to ensure that states sovereignty would not lead to tensions with the promotion of human rights. However, the goal of human rights is to protect individuals from abusive action by states and state agents; which is very much centered towards redefining state sovereignty. Frederic Megret, analyzed the problem as one of tensions between substance and form, where ideally in any given legal system the two should be aligned. However the two have converged formally, at least to the extent that human rights obligations are typically given their binding character internationally by being recognized in international sources, such as treaties. Notwithstanding, States are the ones ratify international human rights treaties are not primarily committing to respect human rights with regards to other states, but in relation to individuals within their jurisdiction. Therefor international law is better at protecting the rights and interest of the state, then the individual.

Vice President of Operations

Research paper
Part 1: Vice President of Operations
Scenario: Imagine that you are the vice president of operations at a production or service organization. You have noticed that your organization’s current operations strategy is not supporting the challenges that the organization is presently facing. In order to maintain a competitive edge, you must address these challenges with your Chief Executive Officer immediately.

Select an existing production organization. Analyze the organization’s current vision, mission, business strategy, operation strategy, supply chain, total quality management, just-in-time philosophy, forecasting method, statistical technique, facility location, work design, project life cycle, and project management. Note: You will need this information in order to complete this and subsequent assignments.

As you collect the information for Assignment 1 and Assignment 2, remember that in Assignment 3 you must prepare a presentation for your Chief Executive Officer.

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:
1. Evaluate key elements of the selected production or service organization’s operational efficiency with its operational strategy. Determine three (3) tasks that do not align with the operational strategy. Determine the weaknesses that are evident in each task.

2. Formulate a new operations strategy for the selected organization based on the four (4) competitive priorities (i.e., cost, quality, time, and flexibility).

3. Analyze both the structure of the competitive priorities and infrastructure of the production process. Develop three (3) new enablers that are aligned with the long-term plan of the selected organization. Evaluate three (3) pros and three (3) cons of the new enablers.

4. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

• Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format.

Using your reading of Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee and your viewing of the movie Disgrace, and using these two different pieces of literature as your main site of comparison, write an essay where you define what you believe to be the key difference between absorbing literature through the medium of the written word or absorbing it through visual mediums such as television, film, and theatre. What are the different effects on one’s imagination, intellect, and emotions between reading a book and watching a film about a book? Make an argument for the value of written literature and/or the value of visual literature. Is one better than the other? If so, why? If one is not better than the other, what we to make of the differences between the two forms of experiencing a piece of literature.

Write a short essay exploring inappropriately using a rhetorical device or fallacy related to contemporary social problem.

Write a short essay exploring inappropriately using a rhetorical device or fallacy related to contemporary social problem. This essay should accomplish the following goal:

Begin by selecting a rhetorical device or fallacy and defining it (in your own words, please do not quote the book or internet sources). Then, provide an example of at least one rhetorical device or fallacy applied to a contemporary social problem. Please note: This cannot simply be something you’ve heard or a hypothetical. You must provide an actual example of the rhetorical device or fallacy (an image, a link to a website, a video, etc.). This will be your largest challenge with the assignment. Here are some suggestions on places to look:
Conservative or Liberal Blogs (provide a clickable link in your paper)

Op-Ed pieces in newspapers (provide a clickable link in your paper)

The comments section of either of the above
Internet videos (provide a link)
Finally, explain why they are rhetorical devices/fallacies. This may be a fairly challenging assignment, so you’ll want to start thinking about it early on.
This assignment is graded both on writing (grammar, spelling, clarity, organization, and flow) and on content (does the paper provide an example of an actual fallacy or rhetorical device, does the paper classify the rhetorical device or fallacy correctly, and does the paper explain why the example counts as a rhetorical device or fallacy).
