Bullying is a difficult concept to understand and reconcile the consequences. This assignment focuses on the critical thinking skills that are needed to analyze an emotionally charged topic.

Write a one to two (1-2) page essay in which you:

1. Identify the most important step in the student’s guide to research that you would need in order to analyze bullying.
2. Define the identified critical step of research in your words.
3. Explain how bullying relates to one (1) of the following topics:
   1. the agents of socialization (i.e., family, teachers and school, peers),
   2. formal organizations (i.e., conformity to groups),
   3. different types of deviance (i.e., everyday deviance, sexual deviance, or criminal deviance).

Provide a rationale for your response.

Evaluate the concept of ethics as it relates to business operations. Be certain to utilize your text’s definition and then compare and contrast definitions from other sources.
What stance does Drucker take on ethics?
How does your text author relate Carr’s perspective regarding the role of ethics in business?
Provide your own perspective: are personal ethics and business ethics really different? Why or why not?

Entine and Jennings (Case 3.3, p. 104) note that there are eight questions that should be answered about a company to determine the character of its soul:

How does the company treat its employees?
How does the company handle third-party ethics issues?
How charitable is the company?
How does the company react when faced with negative disclosures?

Develop a blog aimed at assessing corporate social responsibility. Be sure to address the following:

Contrast the Entine and Jennings’ views with those of Friedman and Freeman, found within your text.
What is the difference between Entine and Jennings’ eight questions and traditional measures of social responsibility?
Would the model mean that Fannie Mae could be labeled an “honest” company? Why or why not?

Health Promotion Program

Assume that you are working in a community health department. The department has some federal money that it wants to allocate to two health promotion programs from the following:

Decrease in deaths from cardiovascular disease
Decrease in deaths from breast cancer
Decrease in teenage pregnancy
Decrease in cigarette smoking
Decrease in incidence of diabetes
Decrease in motor vehicle accidents
Decrease in osteoporosis and hip fractures among women
Decrease in obesity

Identify the health promotion programs that you would want to investigate and get them approved by your instructor.

Write a 3- to 4-page report in a Microsoft Word document, addressing the following questions:

Identify the risk factors associated with the selected health promotion programs.
What is the target population associated with the selected health promotion program? Consider the hypothetical target population, consisting of middle-aged women, male adolescent gang members, premature infants, etc., and describe the characteristics of each program.
What are the risk factors that you want to focus on in order to achieve the objective of the health promotion program?

GDP Growth and Supply Side Policy

For an economy to grow it must increase labor, capital and/or productivity. While there are diminishing returns to capital and labor, growth from productivity is unlimited.

Governments have a role in providing the framework for sound economic growth. This includes having sound fiscal and monetary policy. Other factors that encourage GDP growth are reasonable taxes and regulation, low corruption, and openness to trade and foreign direct investment.

For this assignment you will write a paper analyzing the growth of a specific country. Identify one country that has demonstrated high GDP growth rates (over any time period) and answer the following:

Describe the growth rates and the time period of the growth 4 points
Explain the reason for the growth addressing:
Growth of capital, labor and productivity in the economy 4 points
Role of fiscal policy in GDP growth (taxes, spending and debt) 4 points
Role of monetary policy in GDP growth (money supply, interest rates and inflation) 4 points
Role of foreign direct investment and trade in GDP growth 4 points

Compare and contrast the art movements during the Renaissance and Post Moderism in a 5 page essay

Discussion 1
What is a project, and what are its main attributes? How is a project different from what most people do in their day-to-day jobs? What is the triple constraint as applies to IT projects? What other factors affect a project?
Discussion 2
Discuss the importance of top management commitment and the development of standards for successful project management. Provide examples to illustrate the importance of these items based on your experience on any type of project. Discuss the unique challenges that an IT project presents.
Discussion 3
What are some of the typical challenges project teams face during each of the five process groups? You can frame your discussion based on a project described in one of the feature boxes in Chapter 3 of the text (for example, the What Went Right? or What Went Wrong? feature). You can also frame your discussion on one of PMI’s Project of the Year Award winners, or on a well-known project failure like the Denver International Airport baggage handling system of this chapter.

Discussion 4
Discuss the process of defining project scope in more detail as a project progresses, going from information in a project charter to a project scope statement, WBS, and WBS dictionary. Why do you think schedule issues often cause the most conflicts on IT projects? Explain what happens during the process to determine the project budget.

Discussion 5
Discuss the importance of understanding tone of voice and body language in comprehending the meaning of what people say. Give examples of how the same words said in different ways have totally different meanings. Discuss advantages and disadvantages of telecommuting or virtual teams related to IT projects.

Discussion 6
Discuss the common sources of risk on IT projects and suggestions for managing them. Which suggestions do you find most useful? Which do you feel would not work in your organization? Why?

Discussion 7
Discuss some of the examples of poor quality in IT projects presented in the “What Went Wrong?” section. Could most of these problems have been avoided? Why do you think there are so many examples of poor quality in IT projects?

discussion 2: Shared Practice: Case Study: IDEO and Creativity

While you may never have heard of the design firm IDEO, you have likely heard of and even used products that it envisioned, including some of the very first computer mice. How does a company consistently generate groundbreaking ideas over the long term? One of the first steps, of course, is to recruit the best and most creative employees. Once those employees have joined the organization, however, there is still more that a company must do to support creativity and create a fertile ground for innovation. In this week’s Discussion, you will be sharing experiences you have had in participating in creative work environments.

For this week’s Shared Practice, read the following case study, Creative climate: Work environment allows IDEO to deliver promise of innovation. Examine how IDEO combines the elements of leadership, work environment, and processes in ways that harness the creativity of its employees and project teams. Then, think of an organization where you have worked, currently work, or one with which you are familiar. Consider how the organization compares with IDEO in supporting a creative climate.

Post by Day 4 a response that includes the following, using an organization for which you work, have worked, or with which you are familiar:

• Describe the leadership, environment, and process factors specific to both individuals as well as teams that contribute to a creative climate.
• Evaluate how the leadership, work environment, and organization processes supported the creativity of employees and teams.
• Based on your observations and/or experience with the organization, describe an initiative that could be implemented that would strengthen the climate for creativity among participants in the initiative. Hint: You can base the initiative on the IDEO case study (i.e., redesigning employee work spaces to enhance collaboration) or you can craft one of your own.
• Explain how the initiative you have selected for the organization might build on its strengths and/or address its weaknesses in supporting individuals and teams in a climate for creativity.
