Final Project

You work for a HR consulting company and an organization (just like the one in which you currently work, have worked, or have access to) has hired your firm to conduct

an HRM analysis and make recommendations to better align HR practices to the key business initiatives of the company. In order to accomplish the goal:

1. Analyze the organization and develop a set of HRM practices based upon textbook illustrations and figures. You will develop an 8-10 page research paper (not

including the title and reference pages) modeling one or more of the illustrations from the course text. Your paper should also:

Identify the firm’s history, strategy, market position, and specific area of alignment.
Provide job pricing and compensation package.
Describe and analyze the current and targeted work processes as well as the respective knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required to achieve the organization’s objectives.
Incorporate a discussion of relevant technology considerations to achieve work output in the context of the organization’s goals.
Provide a discussion of the labor market and the appropriate labor law context. Identification of companies that are preparing to address the changes.
Prescribe a set of HRM recommendations, specifically tailored for the selected firm, consisting of choices from the 19 dimension of an HRM system presented in Chapter 3 of the course text.
Describe other HRM issues as applicable.

The United States (U.S.) and United Kingdom (U.K.) are two very interesting countries. They have shared many direct interactions over the last three centuries and have many political similarities and differences. For example, these two democratic countries utilize both similar and different political systems, structures, and functions. A study of these systems, structures, and functions will certainly expand your understanding of comparative politics.

Write a research paper comparing the political systems, structures, and functions of the U.K. and the U.S. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of each political system. Explain how and why different socialization agents affected the structure of these political systems. Evaluate one U.S. policy program and one U.K. policy program to determine if they meet the needs of their respective populations.

Certification and Licensing

An archer would not shoot an arrow without first looking and taking aim at the target. Similarly, it is important to have an aim in mind when pursuing a career in addictions counseling. Becoming familiar with certification and licensing criteria in your locale is necessary in preparing to be a counselor of almost any type. Credentialing, including certification and licensing, attempts to ensure that addictions professionals meet criteria and competencies and have a core knowledge base and set of skills established by respected regulatory agencies. As of 2012, there was no one national or international agency providing credentialing of addictions counselors, but many agencies and organizations offer counseling certification. For example, organizations such as the International Association for Addictions and Offender Counselors, the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium, and the Association for Addictions Professionals all have developed certification programs for addictions professionals.
