The company you work for is considering changing its applicant testing process. Your supervisor has asked you to research testing methods and make your recommendation. This proposal will be submitted to the vice president for review and consideration.

For the purpose of this assignment, it helps to have a specific type of organization in mind. Provide an opening paragraph stating the nature of the company you are choosing for this assignment (e.g., retail organization, factory, school, police department, etc). You may be creative in what type of organization you choose.

Select (at minimum) 3 major types of tests (examples include cognitive abilities, motor and physical abilities, personality and interests, achievement tests, work sampling, etc.).

· Discuss the legal and ethical implications you see with each test.

· What specific employment laws will be a factor?

· What adverse impact (if any) may be created in using each test, and how could that be minimized?

Based on the results of that compare/contrast, which testing method do you believe may be the most appropriate for your organization and why?

· Remember to compare and contrast testing methods specifically to demonstrate how the methodologies you have not selected may have more negative ethical and legal consequences than the one you have selected.

Within the proposal, you should also discuss ways in which advancements in technology have helped to make the applicant testing and selection process more efficient and effective.

•Compare and contrast the functionality and efficiency of the complaint-push model and data-pull model within the process of health care service delivery. Assignment 1: Voting

The ultimate expression of freedom in the United States is the right to vote. This right is deeply treasured by many Americans, but there are those that take the process for granted. How is my vote counted? Do I have fair representation in Congress? Does my vote make a difference? These are the kinds of questions a concerned citizen must ask when considering the voting process.

There are a number of different methods for counting votes used around the world ranging from majority rule to the constitutionally mandated electoral college used to determine the US presidency. In order to explore the complexities of the voting process and methods used to assure fairness, let’s examine the following scenario:

In the near future, Congress and the states will abolish the process of voting at the polls in the United States. Instead, all citizens will cast their votes via an approved and secure smartphone app.

Describe what changes you anticipate this would make to the accuracy, documentation, expense, and convenience of the voting process.
What method of fairness do you feel would be best suited to counting the votes in this process: majority rule or some other variation?

Purpose

One of the hardest parts about working with people is that you don’t always get to see change in a person’s life. There will always be client’s who come and go through your office. Some who get better, some who get worse, and some who stop coming. You never really know what happens.

You have to find a way to be OK with this. You can’t live and die by your client’s actions. Their successes are theirs. Their mistakes are theirs. We are there to support them.

You never know what you said or did to help someone. Years down the road your actions might affect them in a positive way.

Keeping that in mind helps me in both my professional and personal life. I may have planted a seed. I just might not get to see it bloom – but I have to keep on planting!

Environmental Pollution Scenario Review and Summary

You are an associate-level environmental scientist in a large urban city. The growing human population within the city increases pressure on the infrastructure and natural resources, affecting the environment. As cities expand, they cut deeper into surrounding rural areas, causing environmental problems, such as the loss of wetlands, loss of biological habitats, and air and water pollution. The high density of automobiles, factories, and commercial enterprises in urban areas adds to airborne emissions, including particulate matter, various types of oxides, and hazardous volatile compounds.

Your selected city is experiencing rapid growth in population. The City Council is worried that this pattern of population growth, combined with concerns over climate change, is beginning to create a number of negative environmental, economic, and social consequences. These include deteriorating infrastructure, increasing traffic congestion, declining air and water quality, and the loss of open space. The City Council has charged you with writing a report that will recommend measures to address the pollution issues and reduce carbon emissions.

Make decisions on the optimal measures for addressing the pollution management issue. Choose four of the following measures based on pollution reduction:
