For this assignment I would like for you to summarize and critique an empirical journal article published in a psychology journal. The summary must be typed with 10 or 12 point font and double-spaced with 1-inch margins. Please also write the summary in paragraph form and use your own words to describe the study.
Choose a study that is related to your group’s topic. Hopefully this article will be useful to you in writing your proposal. The article should be an empirical journal article from a peer-reviewed publication. Lastly I would like for you to provide an APA style citation for the article and staple the full-text of the article to your summary. Each member of your group should have a different article to summarize.
The summary must be written in your own words. In your summary include responses to the following points:
a. Start with a brief summary of what the article is about.
b. What was the general research question/purpose of the study?
c. What variables were studied? What were the hypotheses concerning these variables? How were the variables measured and/or manipulated?
d. Who were the participants? (e.g. How many? How were they recruited? Were there any special characteristics of participants?)
e. What were the procedures, tasks, or instruments (e.g., surveys) used?
f. What were the main results (describe in words)? Were the results consistent with the hypotheses of the study and the literature described in the introduction? Were there any surprising or unexpected results? DO NOT PROVIDE STATISTICS.
g. How did the researcher interpret the results? Can you think of alternative interpretations? Did the authors discuss the limitations of the research? If so, what were they?
h. Did the authors give suggestions for future research or applications? Can you provide other suggestions?

| Students will analyze the following fact pattern and discuss how Miranda v. Arizona and subsequent rulings apply.
Four police officers storm an apartment of a suspected drug trafficker with a history of illegal firearm possession. The officers, exercising a valid search warrant, conduct a quick sweep of the apartment to account for all individuals inside, discovering the suspect in the living room reclining in a chair. The officers immediately handcuff the suspect, place him in an upright position, and explain the reason for being there. Then, the officers asked the suspect, “Is there anything we need to be aware of?” The suspect responds that a loaded semi-automatic pistol is under the bed in the master bedroom. Officers also find nearby, used drug paraphernalia and a box of unused bullets. Over the course of two hours the officers discover various amounts of illicit weapons, drugs, and money throughout the dwelling. After about 45 minutes into the raid, the suspect asks a nearby officer, “Why are you picking on me?” and asks in jest whether he should call his cousin “Vinny the Lawyer”. Another officer proceeds to ask the suspect if there was “more to find”. The suspect says “yes” and then leads them to a closet full of shoeboxes containing cocaine and marijuana. After the second exchange, and two hours after entering the dwelling, one of the officers reads the suspect his Miranda warnings. The defense attorney has filed a motion to suppress each of the statements made by the suspect and the pistol and shoeboxes containing cocaine and marijuana seized during the execution of the warrant. Please do a 3-4 page memorandum of law evaluating the issues raised and citing appropriate authority and case law in support of your opinion as to whether or not the Court should grant the motion as to the statements and evidence seized. Your memorandum should include a statement of the facts, the issues presented, summary of relevant case law, application of the relevant law to the facts of this case and a conclusion. Format:

Essay topic: Reflecting on the concepts you have studied in the course, discuss the legal and ethical issues surrounding Solyndra, the California based solar panel manufacturer. You will need to research the company through the American Military University library. Your essay should include the following:
1) Incorporate two to three specific laws that apply to the situation.
2) Apply three general legal concepts that were discsused in the required readings. Make sure you cite your sources.
3) Discuss how the philosophy of economist Milton Friedman may have influenced the executives of the company.
4) Identify an ethical framework other than Free Market Ethics that applies to this situation and discuss how it may have influenced the executives of the company.
Your essay should be 1800 – 2450 words and in APA format. Use at least seven credible sources for your essay, including at least two sources from the University library. Submit this essay as a Microsoft Word attachment in the Assignment section of the class, no later than Sunday of week seven.
You must support your statements with materials from the text, as well as outside research. Cite your sources in APA format.
