Develop the company’s Mission Statement and provide a rationale for its components.

Throughout this course, you will develop a series of written papers / projects that you will later combine into a complete business plan for a Non-Alcoholic Beverage company. For this discussion, you must first review the “NAB Company Portfolio”.  The mentioned portfolio contains the company parameters and details you must follow when developing your company. Provide the following information to set the foundation for your non-alcoholic beverage (NAB) business plan. Response should be at least 100 words.

Paragraph or Essay Structure

  • Appropriate title indicates the essay’s topic.

Sentence Structure:

  1. Review sentence variety and construction as well as word choice and conciseness.
  2. Correct all comma splices, run-ons, and fragments.
  3. All sentences include complete thoughts, containing a subject and a verb.
  4. Sentences have variety.
  5. Vary lengths and structure using different beginnings, such as prepositional phrases, transition words, or dependent clauses.
  6. Transition words (therefore, however, in addition, etc.) ensure writing flows smoothly, connecting related thoughts or signaling shifts in ideas?
  7. Sentences are concise
  8. Avoid being wordy.

Language and Tone:

  • Language is appropriate for audience (formal writing)
  • Point of view is consistent (first person/narrative essay; third person/persuasive essay)
  • No “announcing” what essay will do. Do not refer to the essay itself.
  • Essay does not talk down to reader, or make assumptions (avoid expressions like: Obviously, as you know, it is clear)

Grammar & Mechanics:

  • Sentences correctly punctuated.
  • Words are properly capitalized (including  “I”)
  • No words inadvertently omitted.
  • Subject and verb of each sentence agree.
  • Verbs are consistent in tense (past, present, future)
  • Pronouns properly refer to their antecedents.
  • Spelling errors corrected including words spell check does not catch (their/there/they’re; its/it’s)

Discuss a plan for completion of the project research.

  • Academic writers combine their compelling research questions with well-chosen sources to make the research writing process interesting for themselves and their readers. Reading and responding to the work of others helps researchers make connections between academic texts and their ideas and prepares them to make their own contributions to an academic conversation (237)

     

    DIRECTIONS

     

    In the first part of this assignment, explain your research question and your preliminary thinking. Keep in mind that you’re initially proposing a research project that will take you through the rest of the term. Next, you’ll introduce your field of academic research and describe your research to this point in the semester. Then, you’ll describe a plan for completing your research. This section should be at least three paragraphs.

     

    In the second part of this assignment, create an annotated bibliography with references to at least five scholarly pieces using the MLA formatting and citation style, each with critical annotations (241). For this part of the assignment, you’re required to include at least one peer-reviewed academic journal article. The other four sources must be from “academic” sources (such as newspapers with a vigorous editorial process, books, textbooks, governmental sources, and encyclopedias). This section will also feature a detailed annotation, or a two paragraph summary and evaluation of each source (244).

     

    ORGANIZATION

     

    Part One: Proposal (at least three paragraphs)

    Your proposal should include the following elements, regardless of the approach or style you use (242):

    A tentative title for your project. The title should not restate the paper’s topic (e.g., “Logging in the Northwest” or “Cat Ladies). It should suggest your plan to enter the conversation, signal your position in the debate/discussion, or in some way give readers of a hint of your research purpose.

    A description of your research question. How did you get interested in the subject? In what field or academic conversation you working?

    A description of your research purpose. How do you plan to enter the acadmic conversation? What do you plan to accomplish with your research ?

    An overview of the research you’re done so far. What had your research shown you? What questions have you answered?

    A plan for completion of the project. What research must you do to complete your project? Can you complete the research in the time that remains in the term?

    Part TWO: A Working Annotated Bibliography

    Choose five scholarly pieces using the MLA formatting and citation style, each with critical annotations.

    One source must be a peer-reviewed academic journal article.

    The other four sources need from “academic” sources (such as newspapers with a vigorous editorial process, books, textbooks, and encyclopedias)

    This section will also feature a detailed annotation, or a paragraph summary (or a descriptive annotation) and paragraph evaluation (Evaluative annotation) of each source (243).

Healthcare Issues and Trends

Issues and trends that affect healthcare delivery are varied and arise from many different sources, such as the emergence of new technologies, changing patient and workforce demographics, and economic fluctuations. Federal, state, and local policies are continually instituted or amended to address new developments or priorities and to rectify problems in healthcare delivery. For instance, changes may be required to address cost containment challenges or disparities in access to healthcare services.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Identify an issue currently in the news that is associated with federal, state, or local efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
  • Research the issue in a variety of news sources, such as government sites (e.g., the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Mental Health) and online newspapers. Do not use blogs or other informal sources.

Southwest Airlines and Koch Industries are both known for their distinctive organizational cultures, and both have been highly successful and profitable companies.  Southwest Airlines is known as a “fun” place to work where socialization and humor in the workplace are strongly encouraged.  Koch Industries, on the other hand, has a culture defined by the principles of “market-based management” where performance and revenue growth is emphasized.

Do some background reading on the cultures behind Southwest Airlines and Koch Industries.  While doing your research, keep strongly in mind the characteristics of organizational cultures discussed in the background materials such as team-oriented, people-oriented, outcome-oriented, etc.  Here are some articles to get you started on your research that will give you some background about the cultures at these two organizations:

  • Consistent spelling of Mohammed’s name is worth 5 points.  This will be an all or nothing 5 points.  You may spell his name as Mohammed, Muhammad, or any other respectful way just be consistent.
  • Up to 5 points will be given for proper use and format of citations.  Citations should be provided for all numbers (dates, statistics, etc) and for little known facts.  If there are no citations you will receive a zero (0) on this part of the assignment.
