Compare and contrast the GDP per capita of the State of Israel with the GDP per capita of the State of Palestine (West Bank and Gaza Strip).

Read carefully “Who Gets What From Imported Oil?” at http://www.opec.org/opec_web/static_files_project/media/downloads/publications/Who_Gets_What_Feb2014.pdf.
Write a concise paragraph (100-150 words) in which (1) you state the main point made in the reading and (2) you express your own view on OPEC wealth and power based on “who gets what from imported oil.” To submit blogs in this course, you click on the link to the blog as it appears in one of the subheadings of Course Documents, create a blog entry by typing it, and post it. Do not submit blogs from course tools, as attachments, or as email messages because they will not be accepted. This is Blog 2 and it is worth 2 points (2 percent of your final grade).

Homework 2

1. Access the CIA World Factbook at: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html

2. Using the menu “Select a Country or Location,” compute the total GDP (in US dollar) of all 22 Arab League members (note that the State of Palestine is implicitly referred to as “Gaza Strip” and “West Bank” (because the State of Israel continues to pressure the U.S. not to recognize the State of Palestine) in 2013 (or the available year). You should use ONLY the “GDP ( official exchange rate)” whenever available, NOT the GDP (purchasing power parity). Using the same CIA source, compute also the total population of the 22 Arab League states. Find out the GDP per capita of the 22 Arab League members. The GDP per capita is obtained by dividing the total GDP (official exchange rate in US dollar) in 2013 (or the available year) by the total population in 2014 (or the available year).

3. Compare and contrast the GDP per capita of the Arab world (the 22 Arab League members) in 2013 (or the available year) with the GDP per capita of EACH ONE of the following countries: France, Germany, Japan, Israel, and the United States in 2013 (or the available year).

4. Compare and contrast the GDP per capita of the State of Israel with the GDP per capita of the State of Palestine (West Bank and Gaza Strip).

Based on (1) the above compare-and-contrast analysis and (2) the publicized stereotypes about the wealth of the Arab world, write a 200 to 300 word-essay summarizing your findings and conclusions which MUST be illustrated by citing (only in text) the correct compared figures (GDP per capita). Do not submit tables or separate figures with your essay, but you should cite the relevant figures in the body of the essay to make your point.

Homework 2 is worth 5 points (5 percent of your final grade). Sources for homework assignments must be cited briefly and ONLY between parentheses in the text. Each homework assignment in this course must be formatted as a Microsoft Word file and uploaded through the TurnItIn link (View/Complete) by the deadline. No other submission will be accepted.

Evaluate these arguments conclusions thoughtfully, making sure to stay close to the text to evaluate only that which is explicitly stated in the texts we have read.

PHL/MGT 248 – Final Paper

Due: Friday, June 13 (before the clock strikes night), via email

Note: I will respond to your email to let you know that I have received the paper. If you have not received a response from me by Saturday morning, you must email me to make sure I have received your paper.

Note: To ensure that I can read your paper, please make sure you send it in either .doc (Word) or .pdf format. If you choose to send me a rough draft, please send it in .doc (Word) format (it will be much easier for me to give you specific comments that way). Finally, please name your document in the following manner: YourLastName – PHL 248 Final.doc (or .pdf).

For your final paper, I would like you to write an argumentative paper, 6 pages in length,

1. The second half of our class this quarter was devoted primarily to two very different thinkers, Karl Marx Henri Bergson, to the ways in which each asks us to rethink the nature of society (in itself in its relation to the individuals that constitute it). Please choose one of these two thinkers (Marx or Bergson) write a paper in which you: 1). Explain the author’s arguments conclusions as clearly thoroughly as possible 2). Evaluate these arguments conclusions thoughtfully, making sure to stay close to the text to evaluate only that which is explicitly stated in the texts we have read. Needless to say, the first portion of this prompt is by far the more important – which means you should probably devote more of your paper to fulfilling it. Your first task is to display your understing of the text through a careful reconstruction (in your own words, of course) of its main arguments conclusions. Your evaluation will be based upon this work, should do more than simply agree or disagree with the author’s argument. Don’t just tell me your opinion! Find a bit of reasoning you find to be particularly convincing or unconvincing make a er-argument or explain what you find to be valuable in one of the author’s arguments give examples that seem to illustrate an argument’s validity or render it problematic – whatever you do, stay close to the text, give yourself time to think, be creative!

Whichever paper you choose to write, it must include the following elements:

• It must include an introductory paragraph, a concluding paragraph, several well-organized body paragraphs.
• Your introductory paragraph must include a thesis statement, which presents to your reader the argument you will be making throughout your paper. As such, it cannot simply be a statement, but must state your argument.
• You must make use of properly-cited quotations from the text.
• Your paper must employ proper spelling grammar throughout. Please edit.

Note: The paper must be at least 5-6 pages in length. The assignment cannot be completed in less than five full pages (I will not accept 4¾ – you should really aim to, at the very least, get onto the sixth page) may very well take more (though I’d prefer you try not to exceed 6-7 pages). A paper that only makes it to a full five pages because certain space-taking techniques have been employed will not be ed as a five-page paper. Do not double-space your heading do not more than one empty line between your heading your title, or between your title your introductory paragraph. As was written in the syllabus, your paper must be: typed double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font, with 1.0-inch margins on the top bottom, no more than 1.25-inch margins on the left right. Please number your pages.

It cannot be said enough: Plagiarism will not be tolerated. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate your understing of the texts read for class by reconstructing several arguments (in the manner discussed above) in your own words. This does not mean that you cannot quote the text. If you do, please make sure that the quotation does not simply st alone in your own text, please be sure to always cite your source. For this paper, citations should take the following form: “Quotation” (Author’s last name, page number). For example, “Logical co-ordination is essentially economy” (Bergson, 15). In the case of Marx, however, please use the following form (since we read two texts of his): (VFA, page number) for quotations from the “Value-Form Appendix” (Capital, page number) for quotations from Capital.

I will be happy to review rough drafts or outlines, though they must be sent to me no later than 72-hours before the deadline. You may also bring your questions or rough drafts to the Writing Center, the contact information for which is listed in the syllabus.

Explain why the Facility Layout and the Work System Design is important.

Explain why the Facility Layout and the Work System Design is important? How does it impact the business and workforce? What could go wrong if the two are not correct?

Paper must be written in a coherent manner.
Check grammar and spelling. Very important! Please do not omit words in sentences!
Proper in-text citation and references is a must!
Use credible sources only.
Do not have headings or titles for paragraphs. Professor deducts points for that.
Even though I indicated only one source, the writer may use more than that.

Explain your decision to those involved and affected, and follow up to ensure proper and effective implementation.

Please write a report (evaluate the decision) about the case (Frito-Lay, Inc.) Fellow the decision-making process Define and clarify the issue – does it warrant action? If so, now? Is the matter urgent, important or both. See the Pareto Principle. Gather all the facts and understand their causes. Think about or brainstorm possible options and solutions. (See brainstorming process) Consider and compare the pros and cons of each option – consult if necessary – it probably will be. Select the best option – avoid vagueness or ‘foot in both camps’ compromise. Explain your decision to those involved and affected, and follow up to ensure proper and effective implementation.

**Important

Please make sure that you include (calculation) for the selected option and decision for the case, calculation is the most important for this order. Please read chapter 3 in the Ebook and make the case calculation format the same way discussed in (chapter 3)

Identify a potential capital project for your company describe such a project and write a short summary of the problems you see in getting the funding to see it through.

Risk
Cost
Politics (getting it through committees)
Public Relations
etc.,

Identify a potential capital project for your company describe such a project and write a short summary of the problems you see in getting the funding to see it through.
SLP Assignment Expectations

The paper should be two to three pages in length, and should have references to the background materials or other sources you found for this paper. It must discuss both the estimates of the initial investments and the annual incremental after-tax cash flow that is expected to emanate from the investment.

Evaluate these arguments conclusions thoughtfully, making sure to stay close to the text to evaluate only that which is explicitly stated in the texts we have read.

Explain why predominantly Christian America has supported and continues to support the Jewish Israelis who do not believe in Jesus against the Muslim and Christian.

Homework
Review carefully the statistics presented by “If Americans Knew” at http://www.ifamericansknew.org (also summarized in the PowerPoint slides) and showing:
Israeli and Palestinian Children Killed, September 29, 2000 – Present
Israelis and Palestinians Killed, September 29, 2000 – Present
Israelis and Palestinians Injured, September 29, 2000 – Present
UN Resolutions Targeting Israel and the Palestinians, 1955 – 1992
Current Number of Political Prisoners and Detainees
Demolitions of Israeli and Palestinian Homes, 1967 – Present
Israeli and Palestinian Unemployment Rates
Current Illegal Settlements on the Other’s Land
Daily U.S. Military Aid to Israel and the Palestinians, Fiscal Year 2013
Based on these statistics and the central arguments made in the textbook, write a thoughtful essay (200-300 words) in which (1) you summarize the significant facts you have learned from comparing and contrasting these statistics and (2) you explain why predominantly Christian America has supported and continues to support the Jewish Israelis who do not believe in Jesus against the Muslim and Christian Palestinians who do believe in Jesus, and who are clearly the underdog (“In fact, a good case can be made that current U.S. policy conflicts with basic American values and that if the United States were to choose sides on the basis of moral considerations alone, it would back the Palestinians, not Israel”, Mearsheimer and Walt, page 80).

Sources for homework assignments must be cited briefly and ONLY between parentheses in the text.

Demonstrate critical thinking by analyzing, evaluating and interpreting appropriate policy to provide original perspectives to enhance corporate legal and ethical environs.

The Portfolio Project requires you to write a memorandum to a decision-maker, such as the president of the United States, a member of Congress, a chairperson of the SEC, or a state Governor, on how to reform corporate ethics in American business today. As we have seen, legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley has received considerable media attention, but has not prevented significant catastrophes such as the global economic meltdown of 2008. You should be prepared to propose policies that might help to ameliorate or to prevent corporate ethics lapses that might occur in the future. You have the freedom to select any policy avenues that you think might help to strengthen and fortify corporate ethics. Your memo should do the following:

•Set forth why your chosen policy pathway is important
•Compare it to and contrast it with the policy it replaces
•Articulate your ideas on how to remedy the issue of corporate malfeasance
•Proffer some recommendations to the decision-maker about how to improve overall corporate governance
Please note that your prescription for change is not nearly as important as your ability to forecast potential challenges to the corporate boardroom and to predict possible ways the government could intervene to assist not only solid corporate governance, but also the interests of individual shareholders. It is recommended that you suggest at least two methods and/or policy proposals that critically address the public policy concern. Bring in facts and other data to support the policy issue addressed and make sure each fact is cited to the relevant authority. Demonstrate critical thinking by analyzing, evaluating and interpreting appropriate policy to provide original perspectives to enhance corporate legal and ethical environs.

You are expected to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise and organized fashion, using the required and recommended readings from the course for analytical support. Although you are encouraged to cite from your textbook, you are required to cite a minimum of four scholarly sources beyond the textbook to support your statements.

I am letting it up to the writer to decide what topics to discuss but please take care with the assignment as it is very important to my grade as well as a good amount of money for it, thank you

.Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of issuing common stock versus issuing long-term debt.

In your reading this week, you’re learning about the corporate form of organization, the issuance of common stock, and the accounting for treasury stock. In this discussion, you’ll explore how raising capital with common stock differs from raising capital through a debt issuance such as bonds payable. You’ll also explore the reasons why companies will purchase treasury stock.

Please respond to all of the following prompts:
1.Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of issuing common stock versus issuing long-term debt.
2.Provide two possible reasons why a company might decide to purchase treasury stock. •Explain how the purchase of treasury stock affects earnings per share and the value of the remaining outstanding common shares.
