Explain“The Warning” and Bush advisors during the 2008 Financial Crisis.

Source: www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning
Or simply search FrontlineThe Warning

The Written Assignment is worth 40 Points and is due on November
11th. Written Assignment will consist of your watching the PBS “Frontline”
Special entitled “The Warning” which details the battle between
Brooksley Born and the Senior Financial Advisors of the Clinton
Administration regarding the potential dangers and the need to regulate
derivative contracts.
In addition to the program itself, there is additional material, including a
number of interviews available at the website. You should use these
resources as well as any others that you may find that help complete the
assignment. At a minimum, you must use two additional sources – other
than those contained in the video.
By November 11th at 8:00 AM (Beginning of class) you should submit a
paper that is at least four pages in length (typed and double
spaced),which discusses the background and details of “The Warning”.
Among the topics I would expect to be part of the paper are the role of
Alan Greenspan and his philosophy on “free markets”, the role that the
crisis of Long Term Capital Management played or did not play in
getting attention focused on the problem. I will give you wide latitude in
terms of other topics you might want to cover that come up in the video
but can be further researched e.g. the overlap of senior advisors from the
Clinton Administration during “The Warning” and Bush advisors during
the 2008 Financial Crisis.
The grading of the paper will be based on your ability to summarize and
identify key issues, the use of additional sources and the presentation
and expression of your own opinions. As previously mentioned, proper
spelling, use of grammar, punctuation etc. will be a component of the
grade.

Identify and analyze at least 3 interpretations/discussions of that one art work by various art historians.

ART 111. Paperless Paper. Due via email ONLY. Thursday. 11-19-2015.
As the syllabus states, this paper is worth 33% of your final grade. Please note these due dates:
– November 10 : you must confirm with me the artist and art work that you wish to do by this date. I will approve or not approve it, based upon various criteria. If I approve it, then off you go. If I do not, then please follow this process through until you are approved. This process is to ensure your success.
– November 19 by midnight. The paperless paper is due via email to: agarfield@dbq.edu. Do not include a picture of the work.
Choose one work of art. Only one and write about it. The essay will start with an intro paragraph and end with a conclusion. In between, you will identify and analyze at least 3 interpretations/discussions of that one art work by various art historians. Mind you, you are NOT to use the internet. No Wikipedia; no web pages; no blogs. You will use books and articles. ONLY! You must have at least 3 sources. 5 is OK. 2 is too little. 3. 6 is nice too. But 3.
Or, to put it a different way, 3 sources or more – whatever you need to make a good paper and 1000 words, but no fewer than 3.
Now why do I seem like such a Luddite? Well, I am not a Luddite, first of all, but the major reason is that the purpose of the paper is to allow you to read critically so that you can understand subtle differences in what different people say about one artwork. And I want the comments or interpretations of the artwork you choose to be ‘juried’, ie generally accepted. On the one hand, we call this analysis. On the other hand, when you do it right, we call it synthesis. You may NOT use quotes in the paper. None. There’s no reason to use quotes. Paraphrase what the writers have to say. That way, I know that you understand what you’re reading.
This 1000 word paper (submitted via email) will focus on various interpretations of that one artwork. One artwork. Only one. Methodology is very important here; you might even say the most important aspect. If you choose the wrong approach you risk receiving a poor grade on this portion, so please pay attention to the assignment.
Respect the due date, or risk grade punishment. Simple. I am handing this paper out on October 22. Also, you need to include a brief bibliography. Here are some stylistic examples you can choose from. And, of course, the bibliography does NOT fit into the word count. Come see me if you have any problems.
