Outline Company Background.

Company Background:

Waterfront Development is a provincial crown corporation in charge of developing the strategic potential of waterfronts in Bedford, Dartmouth, Halifax and Lunenburg. The company is focused on tourism, and has an invested interest in operating the Halifax Waterfront as a fully functional Marina. The Halifax waterfront offers more than 1 kilometre (.6 mile) of public berth space including over 457 metres (1500 feet) of floating docks. The berthing spaces are free to daytime boaters. All that is asked of the free daytime boaters is that they register with the Marina Office so they can be included in the marina database. Boaters who want to stay one night or more are charged. The marina is operational from May-October every year and sees visitors from all areas of the globe. This project will focus solely on the Marina Services sector of the Waterfront Development Corporation.

Problems/Opportunity:

Inefficient/complex web site design:

The current website for this company is very inconvenient. For example if a customer wants to book a place on the marina from the website, he/she have to go through multiple clicks and numerous webpages until he/she is directed to the online reservation form. As a result, more than half of the customers preferred to call the office and make a reservation rather than doing it online. Moreover, taking the customer information (Name, Address, Boat etc.) over the phone can often lead to a typing mistake and is more time consuming. Due to this inefficient web design the company is incurring more expenses over time.

Inefficient Online Booking System:

The current online system takes all of the necessary information from the customer via an online forum. That form is then sent to the Marina Office e-mail address where it is manually entered into the database by an employee. This is incredibly inefficient, it makes more sense to have the database update automatically whenever a customer registers for a booking online.

Security:

Security is a large issue with the current system. Many customers leave without paying. Some expect that they can simply pay over the phone at a later date. For customers that leave the country, this ends up being their only option. The Marina office cannot accept credit cards over the phone and therefore the transaction must be carried out by Management. An online payment system could solve this problem easily. Customers could then pay in advance with a credit card to ensure that their space is reserved.

Mapping:

There are multiple berthing locations on the Halifax Waterfront and it can be very confusing for visitors to understand exactly where their reserved space is. It is also confusing for the employee to try and keep track of all the boats on the property at any given time. There is software available that plots all of the berthing spaces on a map, showing which ones are available and which ones are booked at any given time. No such system is currently used by the Marina Office.

Multiple Programs updating concurrently:

Two programs are used to keep track of bookings. ICal is used for time management while Filemaker Pro is used to manage the Marina database. When one gets changed, the other must be updated as well. This is done manually. It can be very confusing since management also has access to both programs. Often the programs will not be consistent with one another. This makes it difficult to figure out which customers have paid and which ones have not. This ties in with security as it enables customers to periodically get away without paying.

Project Objective:

The objective of this project is to analyze the System that Waterfront Development is currently using to operate the Halifax Marina. Numerous issues are apparent with the current system as described above. The focus of this project is systems acquisition, therefore software solutions will be explored and compared to the current system in order to identify the best possible alternative to the current system. The goal is to solve as many of the above issues as possible as well as any others that become apparent over the duration of this project.
I have already done the whole project but I only have to answer one Question.

Q1.System architecture design (you may have different system architecture designs for different

My trip to las vegas in the summer of 2014 i am going to give you all of what to write about.

this is going to be tough and good paper:) the paper is supposed to be on my trip to las vegas in the summer of 2014 i am going to give you all of what to write about. i need you to write 10-11 pages of my trip and 1-2 pages of how my trip follows the theme of mobility in america. i drove to las vegas with my friend andrew from new jersey. we started traveling down route 80 around 2 in the afternoon it wasn’t until we stopped to smoke weed and get gas and some food we drove until about 10 then we were tired so we stopped this time to get a room in a rural part of Pennsylvania in the morning we went back on the road drove to Ohio stopped there for the night. in the morning we left and drove all the day to colorado in which we arrived around 6 in the morning on the third day to eat and shower so we went to a truck stop and got a shower for ten bucks which was waived because the cashier thought i was cute and told me to go in the shower for free so i did just that and my Andrew showered as well. after that we left and we to a weed shop bought a bunch of weed and left for verge we stayed around 5 hours in colorado we left and got to las vegas around 9 at night.

All of that i would like you to do 2 pages of what i just told you but add description in there to make it look really pretty and nice.

in the next 8-9 pages i would like you to write about what i tell you in the next passage.

so when i got to vegas the goal was to live there for 10 days out of a hotel room that i got there and beat on the world cup i brought down about 6,000 and i was getting paid around 6,000 on the first of the month had things gone wrong and another 6,000 on the 1st of next month had things gone wrong even further i just need to make it back to new jersey so i could go to school in the fall semester so late adjust the latest so i had 2 and a half months to get back at the worst case. so i started to bet crazy amounts of money picking parleys which are really hard to win and betting hundreds of dollars on them and losing lots of money i was partying a little bit i don’t really drink i smoke weed daily but other then weed i don’t do anything else. i like to gamble but i have never done it before in vegas i usually have a account that i play with online over seas. so after about a week and a half and lost all my money but i was going to get paid in about ten days so for those ten days we were living out of the car eating out of soup kitchens and trying to stay alive in vegas. on the day we got paid we got a room because you don’t really sleep well in vegas we both slept for a whole day because of how tired we were the room was not good looking on the out side but on the inside it was really cool it was really spacious. so the next day i was betting aggressively to win all the money i lost previously and lost it all my money again in about 4 days and had no more money for a room so i was living out of my car once again and had only a few dollars for gas we looked for a homeless shelter but when we found it the bugs ate me alive so i said I’m sleeping in my car for the remaining time until i get paid so Andrew and i decided to do it again and live out of the car after about 3 weeks Andrew couldn’t take it and begged his brother to get him a ticket to leave so he did and i was on my own till i got paid in another 3 weeks and when i did get paid i wanted to drive to Texas fast to see a friend for i had only 2 weeks left until i had school so that was very important on my way to Texas i stop in new Mexico rest area because i was tired and i wanted to get some sleep in the morning time i woke up to see in the fields of this rest area was a bunch of native americans around it was unlike any thing i had ever seen it was cool

i want you say in one page the process of me going to sleep be discriptive i would go to a apartment complex that had a lot of open spaces to park and not be bothered i would on say on a Sunday put up towels in my window and turn on the air conditioning on every couple of hours because its hott outside living at night i would in the morning have to move the car a bunch of times to get out of the sun i would in the morning go to the cvs and go to the bathroom and then go across town to the soup kitchen and then go to the local swimming pool in the ghetto and pay 2 dollars a day and get to swim and shower all day and that really helped me stay in shape and stay clean i met a lot of homeless people.

finally i would like 1 to 2 pages on how me living out of my car fits into mobility in America. how my adventure is great into fitting into being mobil or not

i will be giving you feed back from a tutor so i will probably be changing some things that you put down but that is ok

Analyze the political and economic risks faced by management in a global retail organization.

Divergent Thinking) When expanding globally, corporate executives are faced with uncertainty and risk. Successful global expansion occurs when this uncertainty and risk is managed properly. These risks are normally political and economic in nature. Analyze the political and economic risks faced by management in a global retail organization. First describe the organization of your choice from recent trade magazines, popular news, and business web sites and/or your personal experience, and then describe their global expansion strategy. Next, define and describe the uncertainty and risk that management faces in their global expansion, including an analysis of management challenges as well as how the theoretical framework establishes their expansion strategy for this global retail business organization in reducing risk. Identify all stakeholders and describe the impact of management decisions on them and the organization as the corporation protects itself and manages its risks. Suggest preferred courses of action. Use theories and concepts from the academic literature to support your recommendations.
