Economic factors: gross domestic product (GDP), inflation, interest rates, unemployment…..

Respond to the following scenario with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. Be substantive and clear, and use research to reinforce your ideas.

You’re meeting with Lester in his office to discuss the details of your presentation to the board next week.

“Given all of the research that you have completed over the past several weeks,” he says, “you should have most of the information you need to make a presentation to the board. The board doesn’t want you to do any more research on all of the topics; rather, we want you to summarize the research that you have already done. ”

“Yes,” you say. “I think I have what I need.”

“Of course we want your final conclusion and recommendation on what the company should do regarding the location issue, as well,” he says.

“What type of presentation do you have in mind, Lester?”

“A PowerPoint presentation would be appropriate for this group,” he says. “I want you to include slide notes, too, in case we have to go back and look at something at a later date. Your PowerPoint presentation should contain between 10–15 slides, not including the title slide and reference slide(s). For each slide, you should have between 150–200 words in the Notes sections. Let’s take a few minutes now to go over how the slides should be organized. I’ve done similar presentations, so I can save you some time with a few pointers.”

When you get back to your office, you type out your notes about each element you discussed and the overall organization of the presentation. For this presentation, you are addressing the following elements:

  • Legal, social, and financial factor considerations
  • Economic factors: gross domestic product (GDP), inflation, interest rates, unemployment
  • Elasticity of demand
  • Economies of scale and efficiency
  • Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT)
  • Market structure
  • Risk
  • Costs (marginal, fixed, variable, etc.)

Analyze the economic conditions that affect revenue projections.

Utilizing a public policy of your choice from the local government where you reside, complete the following:

  • Analyze that local government’s revenues and possible funding options for the chosen public policy.

Additionally, utilizing the local government’s annual budgeting documents and any other pertinent documents, incorporate the following into your paper:

  1. Describe restrictions that are (or could be) placed on those revenues.
  2. Evaluate how public policy decisions affect the receipt of revenues.
  3. Analyze the economic conditions that affect revenue projections.
  4. Recommend a revenue policy that aligns with community values.

Identify three (3) specific groups that were affected by this global event and provide two (2) examples for each group describing how the group was affected.

‘The discovery of America and that of the passage to the East Indies by the Cape of Good Hope, are the two (2) greatest events recorded in the history of [human] kind” – Adam Smith, in the Wealth of Nations,1776. Think about why he and many other notables supported this statement, especially the discovery of America. What was so important about this New World across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe?  How did it change globalization in terms of trade, culture, societies, innovations, new and old world exchanges, and in other ways?

You have already developed a thesis statement and developed an outline in which you identify three (3) main points relevant to your topic. Now you will develop the final paper in which you explore your main points in detail.

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:

  1. Introduce your paper with your previously crafted thesis statement.
  2. Identify three (3) major aspects that demonstrate old and new world exchanges. Explain your responses with specific examples and details.
  3. Identify three (3) specific groups that were affected by this global event and provide two (2) examples for each group describing how the group was affected.
  4. Summarize how this discovery affected the life of the average working American during the colonial period. Use specific examples and details.
  5. Use at least three (3) academic references besides or in addition to the textbook. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA style or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

Evaluate the solutions and recommend the most viable one while addressing the 4 P’s.

Defining and understanding the elements of a group culture is essential to forging a professional identity either online or in person. These elements are important because they reflect how professionals interact, whether online or in person.

An industrial or workplace culture consists of different occupations, roles and statuses. A hospital is an excellent example of a number of people working in close proximity representing different occupational groups. Patients, nurses, health care specialists, surgeons, administrators, security, and support staff groups all function together but may be identified by their equipment, behaviors and language, and the tools and training used to get their work completed.

In this Assignment, you will write a descriptive report about the industry culture of a group of people within the workplace, preferably your career field industry culture. Please note that this focus should not be on racial or ethnic cultures.

Assignment Instructions

Search using individual internet research and complete an essay (in at least 250 words), that investigates a cultural group in your desired field. Describe what the industry group is like in your own words with support from any outside source information you have found. Be sure to cite and reference in APA format any outside sources you have used.
There are 2 separate Assignments to complete.

ESSAY Assignment: Evaluating the Marketing Mix
Scenario: Problem-Solving as a Marketing Manager
Congratulations. You have just been named marketing manager of a major new startup company, Home Essentials Inc.
Your job will be to perform the daily tasks of a marketing manager.
The first day on the job you receive this problem. They know they have a problem but they are not sure what it is. They
know it must be fixed very soon or they will be out of business. Everyone is looking to you to fix it.
This startup company management has noticed that there has not been the demand they anticipated for their practical
but necessary product for new parents. They got rave reviews in the baby and home magazines as the “must have”
product of the year. But yet no one seems to know their product or what it does.
The product is a baby gate/play area that is free form when unlocked, but once configured in the shape parents want, it
can be locked into that shape and will not move or collapse anywhere you put it. The current price for the product is
$100. Consumer Baby Products Safety Commission gave it 5 stars for safety.
The startup has hardly any money and all managers are working for a potential slice of the company if successful.
They have a website that is good but hardly exciting and no advertising to speak of except word of mouth.
Follow these Critical Thinking steps:
1. Determine the problem
2. Analyze the problem
3. Design possible solutions, including media to be used
4. Evaluate the solutions and recommend the most viable one while addressing the 4 P’s.
Write a 3–4 page memo to the CEO of Home Essentials, Inc. detailing the following:
 What you think the problem has been and what you think contributes to the problem.
 Recommend a solution addressing the 4 P’s in your response. Your solution can have multiple steps or
considerations.

Describe the type of hospitality industry and its main categories of employees.

Employee turnover in the hospitality industry averages 400% annually. This means that, on average, 100% of the staff of a restaurant, hotel, airline, cruise ship, etc. is replaced four (4) times per year. There has been extensive research on employee turnover and employee job satisfaction. Using the Internet or the Strayer Library, select one (1) hospitality industry type such as fast-food restaurants, luxury hotels, specialty hotels, or any other type of hospitality interest and identify the main problems associated with that industry and employee turnover. Suggest ways and methods to address the high turnover rate.

Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you:

  1. Describe the type of hospitality industry and its main categories of employees.
  2. Summarize three (3) primary reasons that turnover is so high in this industry.
  3. Recommend one (1) method to address each of the three (3) primary reasons that turnover is so high in this industry.
  4. Recommend one (1) method to improve job satisfaction in general for this industry.
  5. Use at least two (2) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

Discussion Assignments

  1. Offer an example of a justification-based defense other than self-defense. Discuss the concepts of self-defense, defense of the home, and defense of property. Louisiana and a few other states have a law which some have termed as a “make my day” law, which allows deadly force to be used solely to protect property. In other words, you could shoot someone you observed trying to steal your car. Are these laws wise? Why or why not?
  2. Locate a news story or informational web site about animal abuse and neglect and comment on it. How should we punish animal abuse? Animal neglect? Should it be a felony? Under what circumstances?

    Discussion Assignments

    1. What are the various tests used for the insanity defense? Which one do you believe is best for the courts to apply? Why?
    2. Offer an example of two excuse based defenses. Read “Criminal Law in the News” on page 178. Offer or obtain an example of an excuse-defense that strikes you as silly, absurd, inappropriate, outrageous, etc. Has our system gone overboard in allowing these defenses? Why or why not?
    3. Locate a news story or informational web site about hate crimes, and comment on the story. How should we punish hate crime? What are the Constitutional issues with hate crime laws? Should it be a felony? Under what circumstances?

    Discussion Assignments

    1. Review the stories about three controversial homicide cases in the course content for this week.  What level of homicide charge is appropriate? Why?
    2. Chapter 8 contains a lot of discussion about domestic violence and the law. Should domestic violence be punished as a separate crime or within existing assault laws? What about stalking? Explain. Should prosecutors press criminal charges in these cases if the victim is unwilling? Why or why not?
    3. Chapter 10 contains materials on drunken driving and alcohol-related traffic offenses.  Obtain a news story or visit an informational website about DWI and the criminal law. How should DWI be punished? What priority should be placed on its enforcement? Why?

    1. Do you agree that today’s society is “over criminalized?” That is, do you believe that there are too many laws regulating society’s behavior? If yes, please give examples of such laws and state why you believe they hurt society. If you do not feel that way, explain why you believe those concepts.
    2. Locate a news story about identity theft and comment on it. How prominent of an offense is identity theft? How should it be punished? What can be done to reduce the occurrence of this offense?

      Discussion Assignments

      1. What areas of the criminal law are most in need of reform? If you could change any single thing about the substantive criminal law, what would it be and why?
      2. Chapter 13 discusses the rights of victims in the criminal justice system. Should the system place a higher priority on the rights of victims? Why or why not?

Explain the tools that will be utilized to find candidates for filling the selected position, and state why each tool was selected.

Explain and create Curriculum Vitae (CV) .

One aspect of professional development that educators can participate in is that of educational conferences. While you may at some point have participated in an educational conference as an attendee, you have the opportunity in this assignment to think as a presenter! This assignment will also provide you the opportunity to create a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and cover letter.

In this assignment, you will take your discussion presentation you prepared for the staff meeting and convert it into a poster that you could use at an academic conference. As well, often when submitting a poster proposal you include a CV and cover letter that highlight your experience and research interests.

Historically, a conference poster session involves use of a large poster-board style document as a reference when speaking with conference attendees about your research or practical experiences with a topic. Increasingly, the poster session involves handouts in digital format transferred through QR codes or another medium and may involve a television or other screen display to communicate your research at an academic conference. Always, your poster presentation contains a title, introduction to your question, overview of your approach, results from your study or experience, and your planned next steps in applying or expanding the study or experience. Additionally, the poster provides information about literature related to the poster topic, usually a selected listing of previously published articles that are important to your research, and a brief acknowledgement to those who helped you with the study.

Your poster, in whatever format it is presented at the conference, is effective if it can be scanned and comprehended at a high level in around five minutes. Usually you will be present with your poster to explain points and answer questions in an authentic conference experience.

Using the Poster Presentation Template attached to this assignment, create your assignment to meet the content and written communication expectations below
